Position Summary
Are you a dedicated and compassionate Registered Practical Nurse looking to make a meaningful impact on the lives of patients and their families? Join our team on the Complex Continuing Care (CCC) Unit at Belleville General Hospital and play a pivotal role in helping individuals with complex medical needs achieve their health and recovery goals.
Located on Sills 4, our 18-bed CCC unit is a dynamic environment that offers transitional care for patients with diverse medical conditions. Whether providing restorative care, facilitating slow-stream rehabilitation, or delivering supportive end-of-life care, our mission is to provide exceptional, patient-centered care while preparing individuals for their next chapter—whether that’s returning home or transitioning to a supportive living environment.
As a valued member of our interdisciplinary team, you will collaborate with experts in nursing, recreation therapy, physiotherapy, occupational therapy, speech-language pathology, spiritual care, and nutritional services. Together, we deliver tailored, holistic care designed to meet each patient’s unique physical, cognitive, and emotional needs.
What You Can Expect:
Purposeful Work: Help patients achieve independence, improve quality of life, or receive compassionate end-of-life care.
Specialized Programs: Contribute to our Slow Stream Rehab (SSR) program, providing low-intensity therapy to meet long-term rehabilitation goals.
Supportive Team: Work alongside a collaborative and skilled interdisciplinary team in a positive, patient-focused environment.
Required
- Current Certificate of Registration in good standing, or eligible for registration from the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Current CPR or BCLS certificate.
- Capable of coping with a physically demanding workload. (Physical Demands Analysis (PDA) available to review).
Duties
- Provision of care for patients within an interprofessional environment, including assessment, treatment, teaching and education.
- Performs acts requiring specialized knowledge, skills and judgement necessary for care of acute medical patients.
- Teaching and coaching to patients and families.
- Maintains nursing records in accordance with College of Nurses Standards.
- Practicing in compliance with provincial legislation, hospital policy and procedures, professional regulatory standards and best practices within the nursing profession.
- Maintaining professional competence by completing regular professional development including annual training and education as indicated.
- Participates in unit/dept. and hospital quality improvement initiatives.
- Adheres to a safe and healthy workplace and maintains a safe and healthy work environment through attendance at educational programs, use of established mechanisms for injuries and hazards and adherence to health and safety-related policies and procedures.
- Adapts and adheres to the values of Quinte Health while promoting and advocating for an enhanced patient experience.
- Other duties as assigned.
