Scope
The Surrey Fire Service is currently recruiting for an Emergency Vehicle Technician (EVT) who will service fleet vehicles and equipment. Reporting to the Fleet Manager, the successful candidate will play a key role in providing mechanical expertise and service to one of the largest fire department fleets in British Columbia.
Responsibilities
The successful candidate will perform a variety of skilled trade tasks involving considerable physical effort.
Our ideal candidate will have:
- Strong mechanical abilities and expertise in commercial or heavy-duty equipment are needed to perform a variety of tasks including overhaul, repair, maintenance, fabrication and installation of firefighting and departmental equipment and apparatus.
- Extensive knowledge and experience with electronic diagnostics and troubleshooting, multiplex systems and computer diagnostic software is desired.
- Strong communication and interpersonal skills will be critical to interact with firefighters, administration, and other stakeholders.
- Effective time management and organizational skills are required to deliver objectives within demanding timelines and to quickly adjust to changes in areas of focus.
Qualifications
- Grade 12 graduation certificate
- Mechanical Red Seal trade certification
- Valid Class 3 BC driver's license with air brake endorsement and a safe driving record
- Commercial Vehicle Inspector's License
- Strong computer skills with a variety of different software
- Emergency Vehicle Technician certification
- EVT experience will be considered an asset
- A criminal record check will be required
