Translator / Reviser
$40.00–$50.00/hour 4-Month Contract (Full-Time) Onsite (Guelph, ON)

Key Responsibilities
Provide high-quality English-to-French written translation for a wide range of customer and corporate materials for internal and external distribution. Independently manage the end-to-end translation quality control process, ensuring French content perfectly mirrors the meaning, branding, and timelines of the English source material. Lead the production of French content across final output media (web pages, email/phone scripts, etc.) utilizing a specialized technical toolkit (InDesign, SharePoint, HTML/CSS, LiveCycle). Develop and maintain accurate, up-to-date terminology based on legal and business documents for inclusion in the corporate glossary and style guide; maintain resource/translation memory systems. Track translation cycles and volumes relative to corporate priorities to proactively forecast future requirements and optimally align resources with organizational needs. Establish and maintain strong working relationships with internal stakeholders and peers in the Ontario Ministry of Agriculture, Food and Agribusiness (OMAFA) Bureau of Translation to validate complex or sensitive information. Handle day-to-day translation workflow processes, including researching the precise intent and meaning behind complex industry terms and phrases.
What You Need to Succeed
An undergraduate university degree in Translation from an accredited academic institution is required. A minimum of 7 years of experience of increasing difficulty in a professional translation position. Must achieve a superior rating on the Language Proficiency Evaluation, with thorough knowledge of English and French grammar, punctuation, and proofreading. Practical experience with computer-assisted translation memory technology, alongside a strong technical skillset in InDesign, SharePoint, HTML/CSS, and LiveCycle. Familiarity with agricultural and insurance terminology is highly beneficial. Membership in a recognized association, such as the Association of Translators and Interpreters of Ontario (ATIO), is a strong asset. Strong planning and organizational abilities to meet strict objectives, a proactive approach to problem-solving, and meticulous attention to detail to ensure error-free, high-quality results.
