We are hiring for an Accounts Receivable Specialist (temporary contractor role, St. Thomas, ON, onsite)! Come and join our team! POSITION SUMMARY The Accounts Receivable Specialist is responsible for the accurate and timely processing of customer invoices, payments, and account reconciliations. This role is critical in managing cash flow, ensuring collections are handled efficiently, and maintaining strong customer relationships. The Specialist works closely with internal departments and external customers to resolve discrepancies, apply payments, and uphold the integrity of financial records. A strong focus on accuracy, timeliness, and communication is essential to supporting the company’s financial operations. PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES
- Generate and process customer invoices in a timely and accurate manner
- Apply customer payments to accounts and reconcile receipts with bank deposits
- Monitor outstanding accounts and perform proactive collection activities
- Communicate with customers regarding overdue balances and resolve billing discrepancies
- Collaborate with Sales, Customer Service, and Finance teams to resolve disputes
- Prepare AR aging reports and provide regular updates on collection status
- Assist with month-end and year-end close activities, including reconciliations
- Maintain accurate and complete customer account records
- Support internal and external audits by providing required documentation
- Contribute to process improvement initiatives within the AR function
Qualifications & Education
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- Fluent in both oral and written French and English preferred
CRITICAL EXPERIENCE & COMPETENCIES
- Post-secondary diploma or certificate in Accounting, Finance, or a related field
- 1–3 years of experience in accounts payable or a similar finance role
- Familiarity with accounting systems (e.g., JDE, SAP, or similar ERP)
- Proficient in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications
- Strong attention to detail and accuracy in data entry and record-keeping
- Excellent organizational and time management skills
- Clear and professional communication skills, both written and verbal
- Problem-solving ability to investigate and resolve invoice or payment issues
- Ability to work independently and manage multiple priorities in a deadline-driven environment
- Team-oriented mindset with a focus on collaboration across departments
- Understanding of accounting principles and AP best practices
- Commitment to confidentiality and integrity in handling financial information
