Job Description The work consists in actively participating in various projects, such as the reconstruction of streets and sidewalks, the rehabilitation/replacement of sewer and water mains and the redevelopment/ geometrical configuration of new projections, either on site or for design purposes.

Under the supervision of the Section Head from the Engineering Division, the student mainly supervises the rehabilitation work on the Town of Mount Royal's road network. In addition to interacting with contractors, laboratory technicians, employees of other Town departments and citizens, the student refers to the plans and specifications prepared by the Town, quantifies and notes the progress of the work.

MAIN RESPONSABILITES

  • Monitor all stages of the work;
  • Verify the work performed and inspect the quality and compliance with established standards;
  • Coordinates certain work between contractors, the laboratory and the public;
  • Reads plans and specifications, interprets them, compares them to the work performed and writes detailed reports of any discrepancies found;
  • Writes site reports on the work and any non-conformances observed;
  • Ensures that the tests performed by the laboratory technicians comply with established standards;
  • Notifies contractors and suppliers of any necessary corrections;
  • Inform the immediate supervisor of any anomaly noted;
  • Measuring the quantities of work performed for progress counts;
  • Ensure compliance with the health and safety rules in effect on a construction site;
  • Carry out all other related tasks.

Employment Duration: Full-time from May to August 2026, with the possibility of part-time extension in Fall 2026.

Qualifications And Requirements

  • Be registered, at the time of application, as a full-time student in civil engineering (in university);
  • Hold a valid Class 5 driver's license (vehicle provided by the Town);
  • Be fluent in English* and French, both orally and in writing;
  • Hold a valid ASP Construction card;
  • Have knowledge of the conduct of inspections of civil works and the operation of infrastructures in the municipal environment;
  • Master the Office, AutoCAD;
  • Be available to work overtime on a daily basis.
  • Knowledge of English is a requirement due to potential interactions with the Town's citizens.
