About the role

As a Welding Robot Programmer, you will be responsible for programming metal parts and fixtures to produce high-quality welds efficiently and safely, contributing to the construction of equipment designed for the rugged and challenging terrain of the forestry industry.

Location: 100 Savage Drive, Cambridge, ON

Dedicated Day Shift: 6:30am - 3:00pm, Monday - Friday

Job Description:

  • Daily use and understanding of Robot Studio for offline programming
  • Manually weld any areas prior to robotic welding that are not accessible to the robot
  • Weld materials to complete assembly, ensuring quality through specified dimensions
  • Operate an ABB robot system integrated by Wolf Robotics to complete production requirements
  • Gather required tools, equipment, and materials in the work area. Hand carts or crane may be necessary to maneuver tools, equipment, and materials
  • Use of hand, air, and power tools, cutting torch, plasma cutters and welding machines
  • Inspection of all welds to ensure conformance to specifications
  • Examine work pieces for defects and conformance with specifications
  • Removal of completed parts from the work area and preparation for the next production stage
  • Completion of paperwork as required
  • Perform regular operating maintenance
  • Read and interpret shop drawings and blueprints

Skills and Experience:

  • Relevant education and/or experience in the areas of:
  • Fabrication
  • Robotics
  • Programming (RobotStudio)
  • Arc Weld Power Pacs
  • Understanding of drawings, geometric dimensioning, and tolerances are considered to be an asset
  • Must be able to adapt to a changing work environment, competing demands, and be able to deal with frequent change, delays, or unexpected events
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills
  • Self-motivated with a proactive approach to taking on technical tasks
  • Ability to quickly comprehend new concepts, processes, and systems
  • Previous experience in the manufacturing of heavy equipment industry

Qualifications:

  • Previous manual welding as well as welding robot operation and programming experience is required
  • Create, navigate and select appropriate welding parameters through the use of a computerized system
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints and engineering drawings
  • Capable of repairing and reworking welds for a high-quality finish
