We are seeking an experienced and results-driven Inventory Manager to lead our inventory control and materials management functions based out of our St. Catharines facility. This is an exciting opportunity for a strategic inventory professional who thrives in a fast-paced manufacturing environment and wants to make a measurable impact on operational performance.

Position Summary The Inventory Manager is responsible for overseeing all inventory management activities across the Canadian shop facilities, ensuring inventory accuracy, material availability, cost control, and process efficiency. This role will lead inventory planning, warehouse coordination, cycle count programs, ERP inventory management, and continuous improvement initiatives while collaborating closely with procurement, production, logistics, and finance teams.

The successful candidate will develop and implement inventory strategies that support production requirements, optimize working capital, and drive operational excellence.

Key Responsibilities

Inventory Management & Control Develop and execute inventory management strategies to support manufacturing operations and business objectives Maintain accurate inventory records and ensure data integrity within the ERP system Establish and monitor inventory control procedures, policies, and best practices Manage inventory levels to balance production demands while minimizing excess and obsolete stock Oversee inventory replenishment processes and safety stock requirements Monitor inventory turnover, stock accuracy, carrying costs, and other key performance indicators Warehouse & Materials Management Oversee the receipt, storage, movement, and issuance of materials throughout the facility Ensure proper organization and utilization of warehouse and yard storage areas Coordinate material flow between receiving, inventory, production, and shipping departments Ensure all materials are properly identified, tracked, and stored according to company standards Develop processes that improve material handling efficiency and reduce waste Inventory Accuracy & Auditing Lead cycle count and physical inventory programs Investigate inventory variances and implement corrective actions Analyze discrepancies and identify root causes to prevent future occurrences Ensure compliance with inventory control procedures and audit requirements Maintain accurate documentation and reporting for inventory transactions Planning & Forecasting Collaborate with procurement and operations teams to forecast inventory requirements Analyze historical usage trends, production schedules, and project demands Support purchasing decisions through inventory analysis and forecasting data Monitor inventory performance and recommend adjustments to optimize stock levels Leadership & Team Development Supervise, mentor, and develop inventory and warehouse personnel Establish performance objectives and provide ongoing coaching and support Promote a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, and operational excellence Ensure team compliance with safety procedures and company policies Continuous Improvement Identify opportunities to improve inventory accuracy, productivity, and material flow Lead process improvement initiatives utilizing Lean Manufacturing principles Develop and implement standard operating procedures for inventory management Participate in ERP enhancements and inventory system optimization projects Support operational excellence initiatives across the organization Reporting & Analysis Prepare and present inventory reports, KPIs, and performance metrics to management Analyze inventory trends and provide recommendations to improve efficiency and reduce costs Monitor obsolete, excess, and slow-moving inventory and develop reduction strategies Provide regular updates on inventory health, material availability, and operational risks

Qualifications

Education Post-secondary diploma or degree in Supply Chain Management, Operations Management, Business Administration, Logistics, or a related field Professional designation such as CPIM, CSCP, SCMP, or equivalent is considered an asset Experience 5+ years of inventory management, warehouse management, or supply chain experience within a manufacturing environment Previous leadership or supervisory experience required Experience in structural steel, fabrication, industrial manufacturing, or construction-related industries is considered an asset Demonstrated experience implementing inventory control processes and continuous improvement initiatives Skills & Competencies Strong leadership and team development abilities Exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills Advanced understanding of inventory management principles and best practices Strong planning, forecasting, and organizational skills Ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced manufacturing environment Excellent verbal and written communication skills Results-oriented with a focus on continuous improvement Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy Technical Requirements Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Excel Experience working with ERP systems (Microsoft Dynamics, SAP, Oracle, Epicor, or similar) Strong understanding of inventory management software and reporting tools Experience utilizing data analytics to drive inventory decisions Familiarity with barcode scanning, warehouse management systems (WMS), and inventory tracking technologies

Applicants must have a valid drivers license and be able to travel regularly between the 5 shops located in Brampton, Bolton, Welland, & two in St. Catharines.
