The National Wire and Cable Support Specialist provides support to manage and control products for purchase and distribution to internal and external buyers

National Wire and Cable Support Specialist

Purpose:

To provide friendly and professional customer service while answering the telephone and greeting visitors and performing general clerical duties according to established procedures.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Coordinating Purchasing and collaborate with branch locations to handle all wire-related non-stock and project-specific inquiries, ensuring timely sourcing, pricing, and other fulfillment.
  • Distribute Wire & Cable notifications from vendors.
  • Assisting with vendor cost negotiations when needed.
  • Expediting (wire) POs and coordinating deliveries with the warehouse.
  • Setting a schedule and managing vendor stock rotations (wire only).
  • Running weekly report and following up on outstanding branch (wire) transfers.
  • Act as a wire & cable support for all branches – providing quotes, training, substitutes, etc. Sourcing from vendors and providing quotes to sales/branches.
  • Manage wire shorts – write off, send to branches where applicable, recommend sales blowout, etc. Work to ensure Class 13 is current and managed with corporate.
  • Manage chargeable and nonchargeable reels – purchase/returns.
  • Kitting and any special projects (i.e. stripping).
  • Backup for the wire mod – batching.
  • Assist Operations Team with bin locating when needed.
  • Assist with other duties or requests as necessary.

Preferred Skills & Experience:

  • Minimum grade 12 education; however, preference will be given to individuals with a technical or post-secondary education background.
  • Broad knowledge of company's products and services.
  • One to three years of related wire and cable experience considered an asset.
  • Must exhibit excellent time management and organizational skills.
  • Possesses strong relationship building skills to cultivate and develop customer loyalty.
  • Ability to work with all levels of employees and management, both internally and externally.
  • Strong customer service and troubleshooting skills.
  • Exceptional conflict resolution, negotiation and objection handling skills.
  • Basic mathematical skills.
  • Excellent spoken and written communication skills.
  • Must demonstrate honesty and integrity.
  • Willingness to gain technical knowledge by attending educational workshops and reviewing publications.
  • Willingness to go the extra mile.
  • Proven proficiency with Microsoft Office products including Outlook, Excel, Word and PowerPoint.
