About the Role:

Are you a strategic financial leader who thrives in dynamic environments and enjoys building systems that drive performance and accountability? MEMS is seeking a Controller to lead our corporate financial management functions with precision, insight, and integrity.

This is a high-impact role that blends hands-on financial control with strategic leadership. You’ll work closely with the VP of Finance and Legal, senior management, and cross-functional teams to ensure sound financial governance, accurate reporting, and effective planning that supports our long-term growth.

Please note this position is eligible to be based out of our Sherwood Park, Calgary, Saskatoon, or Guelph office.

What You’ll Do:

Financial Leadership & Strategy

  • Partner with the VP of Finance and Legal to shape and execute financial strategies aligned with organizational goals.
  • Deliver insightful financial analysis to support strategic and operational decisions.
  • Lead budgeting, forecasting, and long-range financial modeling.

Financial Reporting & Compliance

  • Oversee timely and accurate financial reporting (monthly, quarterly, annual).
  • Ensure compliance with ASPE, internal policies, and audit standards.
  • Manage general ledger activities and coordinate external audits.

Internal Controls & Governance

  • Design and maintain robust internal controls and financial policies.
  • Uphold governance standards and risk management practices.

Budgeting, Forecasting & Analysis

  • Lead organization-wide budgeting and forecasting processes.
  • Provide variance analysis and identify cost efficiencies and financial risks.
  • Develop clear financial dashboards and performance reports.

Operational & Systems Leadership

  • Oversee financial systems (ERP, reporting tools) and ensure data integrity.
  • Drive automation and process improvements across finance operations.
  • Collaborate with IT and operations on system integration and optimization.

Team Leadership & Development

  • Lead and mentor a high-performing finance team.
  • Foster a culture of accountability, learning, and professional growth.

Qualifications:

  • University degree in Business, Accounting, or Finance.
  • CPA designation (CA, CMA, or equivalent) required.
  • 7–10 years of progressive finance experience, including 5+ years in a leadership role.
  • Proven track record in financial reporting, planning, and team development.
  • Experience with ERP systems and financial process optimization.
