The Quality Assurance Analyst is a key member of the Business Unit Quality Team. They will help to ensure the compliance of the operations to regulatory, customer requirements and company policies. As part of the QA team, the analyst will ensure the quality management system (QMS) performance is maintained and effective and uses best practices to monitor and improve system performance to achieve defined objectives.

What You'll Do Safety Management System (SMS) Specific Accountabilities:

  • Recognizes and understands flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
  • Responsible for immediately reporting flight/product safety concerns.
  • Participates in proactive risk analysis of flight/product safety critical parts and processes.
  • Recognizes and understands the Just Culture policy.

Specific Accountabilities

  • Analyzes, evaluates and presents reports for Quality Management System data such as: product non-conformances, audit findings, Cost of Poor Quality, and related statistical trends.
  • As a Quality Representative, participates or leads investigations and Corrective and Preventive Action (CAPA) on assigned events.
  • Helps to promote the product Safety Management System (SMS) by monitoring the weekly and monthly operations assessment (SMS) process.
  • Monitors or participates in proposed production process changes to ensure compliance with first article and process qualification QA approvals.
  • Monitors assigned projects for work in progress to ensure that quality and regulatory standards are met and that project designs are effective through the entire process; approves changes to designs or schedules as necessary. Produces periodic project status reports comparing actual to forecasted timelines.
  • Participates in or leads, the planning, costing, scheduling, implementation, deliverables, evaluation, and troubleshooting activities of assigned cross-functional projects.
  • As an internally qualified quality auditor, conducts quality audits to ensure compliance with regulatory policies and procedures. Includes System, Process and product audits.
  • Prepares amendments to policies and procedures pertaining to quality system criteria within the organization.
  • Participates in the review, amendment, approval and re-issue of company quality management system documentation.
  • Provides, on an as required basis, technical advice with respect to quality management system criteria, airworthiness and regulatory requirements.
  • Responsible for observing and promoting all applicable safety requirements (flight and occupational) reporting immediately any unsafe practices/conditions.
  • Carries out special projects as assigned.

Basic Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of original equipment manufacturer (OEM) manuals and their application in production.
  • Working knowledge of production management computer systems including: ERP systems
  • Working knowledge of PC's in the current company operating system environment. Fluency in MS Office apps (Outlook, MS Word, PowerPoint, Excel).
  • B Sc Engineering, CET, or College certificate in Quality Assurance Management or equivalent experience.
  • Thorough knowledge of ISO 9000/AS9110 quality management system requirements, analytical tools and problem solving methodology.
  • Thorough knowledge of Quality Management System documentation framework including: policies, procedures, work instructions and forms as used in the current operating environment.

Desired Skills

  • Certificate in ISO 9000/AS9110 training an asset.
  • Thorough knowledge of regulatory requirements (Transport Canada, other foreign regulators) and industry standards related to maintenance and certification for aviation products processed by the organization.
  • Thorough knowledge of gas turbine engine theory is an asset.
  • Project management skills are and asset including: strong planning, organizational, analytical, interpersonal, decision making, oral and written communication skills.
  • Knowledge of technical production processes, inspection methods and special processes, engine build and test processes.
