Position Summary
We are seeking a Category and Consumer Insights Analyst to join our dynamic team, reporting to the Senior Category and Shopper Insights Manager. This role is crucial in translating consumer data into strategic recommendations that inform business decisions, enhance customer partnerships, and drive category growth.
A day in the life of a Category & Consumer Insights Analyst
As a Category and Consumer Insights Analyst, you will be the central point of contact for all category & consumer research at Purina Canada. You will utilize consumer tools such as Nielsen, Numerator and Shopper Data, to uncover insights that will drive actionable outcomes.
You will also:
- Extract, integrate, and interpret data from various tools (e.g., Nielsen, Numerator, loyalty data) to uncover actionable insights.
- Support all consumer research initiatives, acting as the central source of truth for insights across the organization.
- Champion insights literacy by supporting tool training, attending industry webinars, and engaging cross-functional teams.
- Analyze consumer behavior, category dynamics, and shopper trends to identify growth opportunities and support strategic decision-making.
- Maintain data quality and consistency across reporting platforms, ensuring accuracy and standardized formats.
- Support with the development of monthly reports that address business issues and opportunities.
- Manage research budgets, supplier onboarding, and monitor spend against forecasts and POs
- Collaborate cross-functionally with Sales, Marketing, and Category teams to embed insights into commercial strategies.
- Support ad hoc requests, monitor competitive activity and market trends
What will make you successful?
- 3+ years of experience in Customer Insights, Category Management, or Data Analysis within the consumer-packaged goods industry
- Proficiency working with Ms Office Excel, Power Point, and Word is required
- Experience working with Industry tools e.g.: Nielson, Numerator, and Custom Consumer Research is an asset
- Post secondary education in Business related discipline
- Strong communication skills with the ability effectively convey findings in a clear and persuasive manner
- Proven problem-solving skills with the ability to extract insights and formulate recommendations
- Proactive self-starter with strong attention to detail, excellent interpersonal, communication, project management, and organizational skills
