Job Purpose & Responsibilities

The City of Cold Lake is seeking a qualified individual to fill the permanent, full time position of Animal Care Centre Attendant with the Land Use, Planning, Development & Regulatory Services department.

Reporting to the Municipal Enforcement Team Lead (Supervisor), the Animal Care Centre Attendant will be responsible for providing a basic level of care to dogs and cats and maintain cleanliness to the facility including but not limited to:

  • replenishing food, water, and litter pans on a scheduled basis
  • allowing animals to go outside routinely, washing and sterilizing food/water dishes and litter pans
  • sanitizing kennels and cages, laundering blankets, restocking pet supplies
  • disposing of animal waste and other debris.
  • Assist in attempting to reunite animals with their owners by taking pictures of the animal and posting them to social media, scanning animals for microchips, recording identification, and calling potential owners.
  • The greatest challenge of this position is the ability to successfully care for multiple animals at once while cleaning, sanitizing, and restocking duties are routinely managed.

Qualifications & Competencies

  • High School Diploma or equivalent;
  • Must be able to lift up to fifty (50) pounds;
  • Comfortable and experienced handling and caring for animals;
  • Highly self-motivated with the ability to multitask;
  • Strong attention to detail;
  • Strong customer service skills and a keen interest in assisting others; and
  • Ability to exhibit discretion working around confidential and sensitive situations.

More Details

Salary for this position is $20.66/hr.; hours of work are 20 hours per week. The schedule for this position is Wednesday, Saturday, and Sunday.
