President - Northern Super League-Winnipeg Club
About the role
The Northern Super League (NSL) is Canada’s first professional women’s soccer league, launched in April 2025 with six clubs across the country. Built to create a strong domestic pathway for Canadian women’s soccer, the league is entering an important stage of growth as it looks to expand its national footprint and continue building toward a sustainable, competitive, and community-connected future.
Built on a foundation of community, excellence, and legacy, the NSL Winnipeg Club will be a community-first sporting and entertainment organization committed to its players, supporters, partners, and the people of Winnipeg. With strong local soccer leadership involved in its development and plans underway for a new stadium, the Winnipeg Club has the opportunity to establish a lasting place within Winnipeg’s sports community.
We are seeking a President for the NSL Winnipeg Club.
This is a rare opportunity to build a professional sports franchise from the ground up. The Club is establishing its brand, venue, operating structure, leadership team, and place in the community and is seeking a visionary and entrepreneurial President to bring that vision to life and ensure the club is ready to launch successfully for the 2027 season.
Position Overview
Lead the development and execution of the club’s business strategy, including revenue growth, brand development, operating plans, staffing, partnerships, and long-term sustainability. Build the club’s commercial foundation, with a strong focus on sponsorship, ticketing, community partnerships, fan engagement, and market awareness. Oversee the club’s financial performance, including budget management, revenue targets, expense oversight, and the continued development of a sustainable business model. Work closely with and support the Chief Sporting Officer and sporting staff to optimize player recruitment, development, and performance, while ensuring compliance with League regulations and financial sustainability. Work closely with the Sporting Director and community leadership to ensure strong alignment between the business, sporting, player experience, and community-facing sides of the club. Oversee the development and operation of the Club’s facilities, including its stadium and training environment, ensuring they support a first-class player and fan experience and in cooperation with local soccer stakeholders. Serve as a visible and credible representative of the club in the Winnipeg market, building strong relationships with sponsors, community leaders, soccer organizations, government partners, media, fans, and other key stakeholders. Build and maintain positive relationships with the League and other clubs, all levels of government and funding partners, sponsors, community leaders, employees, players, and fans to advance the Club’s objectives and reputation.
Ideal Qualifications and Experience
You bring senior leadership experience in sport, entertainment, events, hospitality, media, sponsorship, or another revenue-driven business environment. Years of progressive senior leadership experience, including experience working with engaged boards and/or entrepreneurial owners. You have strong commercial experience, ideally with a background in sponsorship, ticketing, partnerships, revenue generation, or building new business lines. You understand the Winnipeg market and bring strong local relationships, credibility, and insight into how to build support across business, community, government, and sport networks. You are an entrepreneurial builder who is comfortable joining at an early stage, creating structure, hiring teams, setting priorities, and moving strategy into action. You bring sound financial and operational acumen, including experience managing budgets, revenue targets, staffing plans, and business performance. You are a strong relationship builder and public representative who can inspire confidence with investors, league leadership, staff, partners, fans, and the broader community. You are collaborative, hands-on, practical, and comfortable working in a fast-moving environment where priorities will evolve as the club is built. Experience in professional sport is strongly preferred. Experience in women’s sport, soccer, or launching a new franchise, venue, or major community-facing initiative is considered an asset.
