Position Overview

The Real Estate, Facilities Operations and Economic Development department requires a temporary full-time Clerk Typist – Conveyancing to work out of our City Hall location for approximately 18 months.

Responsibilities

In this position you will provide clerical support services and perform paralegal functions for the Real Estate, Facilities, and Economic Development department. You will:

  • type land conveyancing documents, search land titles, register and file legal documents;

  • maintain and update the computerized property records, licensing and economic development systems, and databases for Certificates of Insurance;

  • Administer staff parking

  • compile reports to support operational and analytical needs;

  • perform general office duties, including data entry, general correspondence, invoicing, coding, timekeeping, ordering supplies, tracking inventory, minute taking, administering parking agreements, decals and fobs;

  • provide factual information and assistance to members of the public, staff, and other internal and external contacts;

  • assist with the preparation of communication materials, including letters, notices, and post content, for business campaigns;

  • support outreach and engagement initiatives related to business licensing, including communication with residents and business owners to provide information and compile feedback.

Requirements

You must have: accurate keyboarding speed of 50 wpm net, strong skills in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, Outlook and PowerPoint); strong administrative and clerical skills; and a demonstrated ability to meet deadlines. Strong interpersonal skills are important for this role, as is attention to detail, a high degree of accuracy, and the ability to deal effectively with City staff and members of the public.

You will have completed related administrative, commercial or legal courses, and have related clerical experience in a property management or a real estate office; or an equivalent combination of training and experience. Preference will be given to applicants with property management and real estate certifications and experience in a municipal environment.

Compensation

$29.48 to 34.63 per hour

(Pay Grade 15 – January 2024 Rates)

Hours of Work

The City of North Vancouver currently works on a compressed work schedule of 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with one scheduled day off (Monday or Friday) approximately each three-week scheduling cycle.

Additional Information

For Temporary full-time positions of eight (8) months or longer, a City employee who is successful on the posting will have the right to revert to their former position.
