About the role

Introduction

As Ontario’s largest fleet of combined cycle turbine gas plants, Atura Power plays a key role in the province’s electricity system and diverse generation supply. Our facilities are located across the province (Napanee, Halton Hills, Toronto, Niagara Falls and Windsor). This position is located at Atura’s hydrogen production facility the Niagara Hydrogen Centre located in Niagara Falls, ON. Be a part of the team as we expand our fleet to include hydrogen production to support Ontario’s Clean Energy growth initiative.

Job Summary

Reporting to the Senior Manager, Contracts and Market Affairs, this position will serve as the primary liaison between Atura Power and its clients, partners, and stakeholders in the hydrogen production and clean energy sector. This role combines technical expertise with customer relationship management to ensure the successful adoption, optimization, and ongoing support of hydrogen solutions. The Technical Account Lead will help clients achieve their sustainability and decarbonization goals by aligning hydrogen technologies with business and operational needs. This role will also support Market Affairs by at times attending IESO engagement sessions, preparing meeting summaries, and completing analytical work to support the contract management function.

This role requires a balance of technical proficiency, understanding of the Ontario wholesale electricity market, customer relationship management, and problem-solving skills.

Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be expected to:

  • Develop and effectively lead high-quality, long-term Client relationships for assigned accounts.

  • Manage product supply/demand requirements based on customer needs, contract compliance, and reporting for federal incentives (Clean Fuels Regulation and Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit)

  • Support Finance in hydrogen business revenue planning and forecasting, and assist with invoicing and accounts receivable activities

  • Develop and execute strategies for contract renewals, protecting the base business and supporting new sales opportunities

  • Collaborating closely with operations, provide commercial guidance on the overall production and transportation of hydrogen aimed at improving overall profitability.

  • Strong focus on safety, reliability, efficiency, cost management, and commercial optimization.

  • Identify and evaluate alternatives to mitigate business and operational risks.

  • Develop a solid understanding of the technical aspects of hydrogen feedstock sourcing, production, distribution and fueling to communicate the advantages of hydrogen to key stakeholders.

  • Perform economic evaluations to justify and prioritize the execution of productivity projects to achieve business targets.

  • Develop presentations and technical reports required for internal stakeholders and clients.

  • Understand client’s technical/operational requirements. Keep current on market, client and industry trends and evaluate/communicate impacts on business as well as potential for opportunities. Complete opportunity assessments, technology comparisons, and budgetary proposals.

  • Conduct analytical work to support contract management activities, including reviewing market data, tracking contract performance metrics, and identifying risks and opportunities

  • Attend IESO stakeholder engagement sessions as needed and prepare meeting summaries and share key points with internal team members

Qualifications/Competencies:

  • Excellent analytical skills and business acumen – ability to formulate and articulate winning strategies and value creation for clients.

  • The ability to build relationships and influence is essential for success in this role.

  • Proven ability to lead and influence cross-functional teams to deliver timely customer-facing products/proposals.

  • Excellent interpersonal communication and technical skills are required to effectively use working relationships with key stakeholders to achieve business objectives.

  • Must be a self-starter with strong problem-solving skills and an ability to work in a lean organization.

  • Demonstrated strong critical thinking skills and must be attentive to detail.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in engineering, environmental sciences preferred
  • Master’s degree, P Eng, or MBA considered an asset
  • 3-5 years of related experience in business, technical or energy market roles
  • Knowledge of hydrogen industry, chemical, petrochemical, refining & upgrading operations preferred
  • Understanding evolving carbon policies, including provincial GHG programs viewed favorably specifically, the Clean Fuels Regulations and Clean Hydrogen Investment Tax Credit
  • G License and ability to travel domestically and internationally as required
