About the role
JOB SUMMARY\n\nThe Service Analytics and Planning Branch is responsible for developing data\nanalytics and measurement strategies to facilitate fact based planning and\ndecision making, and to identify service improvement projects.\n\nYou are responsible for leading and coordinating the corporate strategic\nplanning process to develop strategic and organizational business plans\naligned with key strategic direction and priorities. You consult with\nstakeholders to gather input, monitor performance and report on key outcomes\nand deliverables related to strategic planning. You also design and facilitate\nstrategic planning and strategy review workshops with senior decision makers.\n\n## EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE\n\nCompletion of 4 year university degree in Public Administration, Business\nAdministration, Economics, Commerce, Planning or related field \nMaster’s degree is an asset\n\nMinimum of 5 years of progressive experience in strategic or business planning\nand strategy implementation, including experience applying models and\nmethodologies for organizational planning and strategy development and\nfacilitating senior decision makers. Experience in municipal strategic\nplanning is an asset.\n\n## KNOWLEDGE\n\n * Strategic planning, organizational business planning and related performance reporting tools and practices; municipal planning principles and practices considered an asset\n * Capital and operating budget processes\n * Risk management practices and tools\n * Performance measurement techniques\n * Facilitation tools and techniques\n * Public consultation practices\n * Working in a political environment\n * Computer and related software programs\n * Knowledge of applicable health and safety legislation, including rights and duties of workers.\n\n## COMPETENCIES, SKILLS AND ABILITIES\n\n * Ability to work on a wide range of projects of a complex and diverse nature\n * Project management skills and awareness of current project management methodologies and new practices\n * Manage multiple priorities and tight deadlines in a high stress environment\n * Ability to think and plan strategically\n * Strong research and analytical skills, interpersonal skills, and problem solving skills\n * Ability to build internal/external relationships, and negotiate with representatives from other departments and outside agencies to identify and achieve project objectives\n * Perform effectively in a multi-disciplinary environment requiring a high degree of motivation and initiative\n * Work effectively as a leader and team member within a multi-disciplinary environment\n * Monitor and synthesize information from a variety of sources to establish action plans and project direction\n * Apply technological tools to assist in efficient and cost-effective program delivery\n * Strong communication skills with ability to deliver information in a clear and concise manner, make effective and persuasive presentations, and prepare effective reports\n * Organized and performs tasks with minimal supervision\n * Exceptional problem solving skills\n * Positive, inclusive approach to project development and implementation\n * Able to deal with multiple demands and shifting priorities \n * Strong client focus and commitment to service excellence \n * Motivated and innovative with ability to deliver results\n * Team player\n\n_WHAT YOU NEED TO KNOW_\n\n * Language Requirement: English oral, reading, writing \n * Experience and formal training combined with demonstrated performance and ability may substitute for stipulated academic requirements. \n * Please save a copy of the job poster.
