Lead with Impact. Guardteck Security is Hiring a Site Security Manager in Vancouver, BC.

Are you a security professional who thrives under pressure and knows how to lead a team to excellence? Guardteck Security is seeking a dynamic Site Security Manager – Commercial Property to oversee operations at a commercial retail mixed-use building in Vancouver, BC, where your leadership will make a real difference every day.

Job Responsibilities

Operational Management

  • Ensure all staff assigned on-site follow Guardteck’s standards, rules, policies, and site procedures.
  • Review all Incident Reports and the Daily Dispatch Log each day to ensure all pertinent information is captured accurately and professionally.
  • Ensure the Daily Dispatch Log and any Incident Reports are distributed daily in accordance with Guardteck SOP.
  • Review the contract and ensure the site remains fully compliant with all pre-requisite and site-required training for all staff working on-site.
  • Follow up with the Guardteck Operations Team to ensure all outstanding training requirements are actioned.
  • Review and approve expense reports, pay discrepancies, and recruitment tickets in Zendesk.
  • Meet with the Guardteck Account Manager at least once every two weeks and ensure meeting minutes are recorded and shared.
  • Complete monthly scorecards to provide the Account Management Team with an operational update on site performance.
  • Ensure KPIs are being followed and report any exceptions to the Account Management Team.
  • Respond to after-hours emergencies to support site staff and ensure information is communicated through the appropriate channels.
  • Act as a key operational leader during on-site incidents and emergency situations.
  • Support investigations involving major incidents, property concerns, or complaints involving the Security Team.
  • Ensure CCTV and integrated security systems are used effectively to support incident review and investigation processes.

Team Leadership & Mentoring

  • Coach and develop the site’s Security Leadership Team.
  • Develop and implement robust security strategies and policies to protect the property, tenants, visitors, employees, and facilities.
  • Conduct bi-yearly and annual Employee Performance Reviews for all staff assigned on-site.
  • Coordinate and execute random tabletop exercises such as fire drills and active threat scenarios, including active shooter, bomb threats, and weapons-related incidents.
  • Hold monthly meetings with Shift Supervisors and the Site Security Management Team, ensuring meeting minutes are tabulated and sent to the Guardteck Operations Team.
  • Support employee recognition initiatives, including Employee of the Month selection.
  • Promote accountability, professionalism, and service excellence across the security team.
  • Conduct random site visits and performance checks to ensure staff remain proactive and compliant with assigned duties.

Client Interaction

  • Conduct random security threat assessments of the property and liaise with the Guardteck Account Manager and the Site Property Management Team to identify ways to improve the security program and enhance operational efficiency.
  • Maintain and update emergency response plans, ensuring employees know their roles and responsibilities and that client updates are communicated as needed.
  • Meet with Site Property Management at least twice per month and ensure meeting minutes are documented and submitted to the Guardteck Operations Team.
  • Check in with the Site Property Management Team daily and conduct random site walkthroughs in partnership with Property Management.
  • Respond to and action client requests made via email or telephone in a timely, professional, and efficient manner.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Minimum of 2–3 years of experience as a Security Site Supervisor, Site Manager, or Security Operations Manager, leading a large security team.
  • Experience in commercial property security, retail security, or mixed-use building operations is an asset.
  • Experience with integrated security systems, including CCTV, access control, and intrusion systems.
  • Advanced computer skills, including Excel, Word, and Outlook.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
  • Outstanding problem-solving skills, attention to detail, and awareness of Guardteck’s business environment and relationships.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality and discretion at all times.
  • Minimum OFA 2 Certification, or willingness to attain certification.
  • AST Certification, or willingness to attain certification.
