About the role

Lead Data Engineer Experience Required: 5+ Years Location: Toronto, ON (Onsite) Employment Type: Full-time

Role & Responsibilities Lead the development and maintenance of scalable, reliable data pipelines and data processing frameworks supporting a variety of business and product use cases. Ensure data quality, integrity, and readiness by establishing and maintaining standards, validation processes, and monitoring frameworks. Collaborate with cross-functional teams including Data Science, Product, Analytics, Infrastructure, and Engineering to deliver end-to-end data solutions. Design, develop, and optimize ETL/ELT processes with a focus on automation, scalability, code quality, and operational excellence. Evaluate and integrate emerging technologies to enhance data engineering capabilities and support evolving business needs. Deliver high-quality solutions while effectively managing multiple priorities and timelines. Serve as a subject matter expert in data modeling, large-scale data processing, pipeline optimization, and data engineering best practices. Ensure compliance with internal policies, security standards, and external data regulations to promote responsible data management. Required Skills & Qualifications 5+ years of experience as a Data Engineer or in a similar role with strong expertise in data engineering, data modeling, and pipeline development. Hands-on experience with Databricks, PySpark, Hadoop, and distributed data processing technologies. Strong experience with Apache Airflow, Apache NiFi, and open table formats such as Delta Lake and Apache Iceberg. Experience working with big data ecosystems including Apache Spark, Hadoop, or cloud-native big data platforms. Strong SQL skills with the ability to write complex queries and perform data analysis and troubleshooting. Experience implementing data quality frameworks, validation techniques, and monitoring solutions. Familiarity with Agile development methodologies and modern DevOps practices. Hands-on experience with CI/CD pipelines, Git, and source control best practices. Excellent verbal and written communication skills with strong collaboration and stakeholder management abilities. Self-motivated, proactive, detail-oriented, and capable of working independently in a fast-paced environment. Ability to quickly learn new technologies, perform Proof of Concepts (POCs), and recommend optimal solutions. Comfortable working within geographically distributed and cross-functional teams.
