POSITION SUMMARY:
Reporting to the Thrift Manager, the Delivery Driver is responsible for providing courteous pick-up and delivery service to donors, customers and Thrift Stores. Working closely with the Trucking Assistant and a supportive team, the Driver assists in the efficient and effective reclamation, processing and distribution of goods and donations. The Truck Driver will exercise safe and careful driving and handling/lifting procedures while adhering to commercial vehicle operator's registration requirements and standards.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
- Transport items, including furniture, between Thrift stores
- Perform pickups and deliveries for Thrift on Fourth
- Promote a positive team environment
- Provide courteous daily drop-off and pick-up service as assigned
- Complete daily inspection of the vehicle, keep the logbook up to date and report any concerns and observations to the Manager
- Assist the Depot when not driving with garbage hauling, cardboard breakdown, sorting items, accepting incoming donations, and transporting items as needed between Thrift stores.
- Provide excellent customer service by greeting and assisting guests courteously when they are dropping off donations at the depot
- Other duties as required
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
- Driver’s license Class 5 with a clean driver's abstract
- Experience in the safe operation of driving a 5-ton truck
- Experience working with delivery tools such as dollies and safe lifting techniques
- Experience in a customer service environment
- First Aid Certification is an asset
SKILLS AND ABILITIES:
- Ability to safely operate a 5-ton truck
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Excellent customer service skills
- Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the public, co-workers and volunteers
- Ability to work independently and within a team environment
- Ability to perform physical tasks essential to the job duties
- Ability to lift 50lbs
- Ability to work in variable weather conditions for a full shift
