Position Overview

The Human Resources Generalist plays a pivotal role in supporting IHACSS’s departments and teams by delivering a comprehensive range of HR services, with emphasis on recruitment, employee relations, training compliance, and fostering a positive organizational culture. This position is essential in ensuring compliance with Canadian Accreditation Council (CAC) standards, Occupational Health & Safety regulations, and all applicable labor and human rights legislation. The role requires a high degree of adaptability to meet the evolving needs of the organization and its workforce. Proficiency in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) is critical, along with the ability to effectively leverage and adapt to advancements in HR technology.

Key Responsibilities

Talent Acquisition & Onboarding

  • Manage full-cycle recruitment for frontline positions and assist with administrative hiring.
  • Develop job postings, source candidates, conduct interviews, and coordinate onboarding.
  • Maintain accurate recruitment records and ensure CAC compliance.
  • Engages in strategic networking with colleges to establish practicum student agreements, connect with students for recruitment opportunities.

Employee Relations

  • Provide front-line HR support to supervisors and managers.
  • Liaise with union representatives and participate in grievance processes.
  • Conduct workplace investigations and support performance management initiatives.
  • Manages employee files, Conduct regular audits to ensure compliance with HR standards and CAC standards.

Training & Compliance

  • Maintain training and core credential records for all employees.
  • Coordinate and schedule mandatory and developmental training.
  • Research training, courses, and workshops to assist in employee development.
  • Ensure compliance with CAC, OH&S, labor standards, and internal policies.

Organizational Culture

  • Foster a positive, respectful, and collaborative workplace.
  • Support employee wellness initiatives and promote professional growth.
  • Participate in conflict resolution, mediation, and the dispute resolution process as required.

Additional HR Duties

  • Participate in audits, policy reviews, and accreditation processes.
  • Support Health & Safety initiatives and committees.
  • Contribute to HR projects, surveys, and organizational communications.
  • Reporting KPI of training and core compliance data to the HR Manager.

Qualifications

  • Degree in Human Resources.

  • 2+ years of experience in HR; union environment experience is an asset.

  • Knowledge of HR best practices, employment law, and workplace safety regulations.

  • Strong organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.

  • Ability to manage multiple priorities and work under pressure.

  • Attention detailed, must always maintain confidentiality, ability to work autonomously and take initiative.

  • Proficient in Human Resources Information Systems (HRIS) and Microsoft 365 Suite.

Compensation and Benefits

Salary: $58,000 - $60,000

Vacation: 2 Weeks + 24 hours of PTO
