What are your contributions to the team (responsibilities)
From an overall perspective: Lead the team responsible for manufacturing industrial strategy, the capitalized project portfolio, the execution of plant projects, and health and safety improvement projects.
- Responsible for the St-Laurent plant’s square foot allocation and optimization to reach financial targets.
- Ensure 5-year strategic planning for capitalized projects is maintained and re-assessed as per yearly process to optimize business outcomes.
- Responsible for defining equipment required to perform the quantity and quality of parts produced in St-Laurent.
- Govern the capitalized (investment) projects portfolio.
- Responsible for the execution of capitalized projects.
- Responsible for executing health and safety improvement projects and reduce inherent risks associated with work in a plant environment.
- Lead the manufacturing technology initiatives throughout the manufacturing community.
- Support the overall Industrialization team in developing business cases for Inload and Offload.
- Develop the teams and maintain the highest level of competencies in project management, mechanical design and electrical design including health and safety acumen and sensibility.
- Manage recruitment and staffing as per budget and project needs.
- Manage multiple stakeholders across the organization.
- Present recommendations and business cases to top management, and represent the VP area in key governance meetings.
- Lead, develop and engage people leaders responsible for the development of dozens of professionals and technologists such as industrial engineers and infrastructure project managers.
- Identify project risks and according mitigation planning.
How to thrive in this role (professional experience, skills)
- You hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, preferably in industrial engineering or other engineering or technical fields. Additional education and credentials, such as PMI certification or graduate studies in project management, preferred.
- You have over 10 years of professional experience, with the bulk of that experience specifically in an industrial engineering field, program management or other complex manufacturing fields.
- You have at least 5 years of leadership experience. Experience leading front-line leaders required.
- Demonstrated competence across the five Bombardier leadership competencies (driving for success; providing direction; engendering confidence and trust; leading change; building effective teams).
- In addition, you show high levels of emotional intelligence, business acumen and strategic thinking.
- You have good communication skills in both English and French. You can present business cases effectively to top management, drive enthusiasm to your employees during townhalls, and influence people in one-on-one and wider discussions.
- You have knowledge of metal parts fabrication.
- Can demonstrate a proven track record of motivating and developing teams to reach their full potential within a transformational environment.
Specific technical knowledge
From a technical point of view, the selected candidate must demonstrate sufficient knowledge in the following areas:
- Aluminum and composites fabricated parts.
- Industrial engineering.
- Aircraft manufacturing.
- Continuous improvement methods and frameworks.
- The impact of the team’s work on the manufacturing system, e.g. related teams and processes.
