Our team is growing, and we are seeking top actuarial talent to join our dynamic and high-performing team. We are looking for a junior actuarial analyst. As part of the team, you will be responsible for supporting the pricing and profitability of commercial business underwritten by Aviva Canada. We do so by providing actuarial analysis on Property and Casualty products and collaborating with underwriters and the leadership in these areas. Senior management helps to establish appropriate renewal strategies. The team plays a key role in supporting the financial goals of the commercial insurance business.

What you’ll do:

  • Maintain and enhance the commercial insurance segmentation strategy and algorithms. Support the alignment of technical considerations with business objectives to help drive meaningful outcomes.
  • Conduct pricing reviews of various coverages and segments of the commercial business, including reviewing the rating algorithms and rate adequacy, analyzing the business impact of the pricing changes, communicating the analytical results to the stakeholders, and reaching an agreement on the rate actions.
  • Monitor the performance of the commercial portfolio and on various business initiatives, to identify key trends and recommend actions to the senior management and to the business to achieve profitability and growth targets.
  • Maintain and improve actuarial databases/SAS programs. Identify data issues and create actions to remedy them.
  • Support technical development required to build and maintain Excel rating tools for the business.
  • Communicate analytical results to both technical and non-technical audiences

What you’ll bring:

  • Bachelor’s degree in actuarial science or a related field; equivalent experience will also be considered
  • Strong mathematical and statistical background
  • Strong problem solving and analytical skills
  • Effectively and clearly communicate ideas/decisions
  • Minimum one year of P&C actuarial experience (including internship)
  • Proficient in programming; experiences in SAS, and VBA are valuable
  • Passed at least 2 SOA/CAS exams
