Professional Staffing is recruiting on behalf of our client, a global leader in custom automation and advanced manufacturing solutions, for an experienced Electrical Design Team Lead. This is an opportunity to guide a highly skilled electrical engineering team while helping deliver innovative automation systems for customers around the world.
In this role, you'll balance technical excellence with people leadership. You'll oversee electrical hardware design from concept through manufacturing, ensuring projects are delivered safely, on schedule, within budget, and to the highest quality standards. Just as importantly, you'll be a trusted mentor, someone who enjoys coaching engineers, encouraging creative thinking, and fostering collaboration across multiple teams.
What You'll Be Doing Lead and coordinate electrical hardware design activities across multiple automation projects. Review and approve electrical designs before release to manufacturing, ensuring quality, safety, and reliability. Provide technical guidance, coaching, and mentorship to electrical engineering team members. Work closely with Project Management to manage project milestones, budgets, labour hours, and overall project progress. Collaborate with manufacturing, controls, purchasing, vendors, customers, and other internal stakeholders to keep projects moving forward. Take ownership of the electrical hardware scope for assigned projects while proactively identifying risks and resolving technical challenges. Support continuous improvement initiatives, maintain accurate project documentation, and ensure ISO standards and company processes are followed. Help create practical, safe, and reliable electrical design solutions that support successful project delivery.
What We're Looking For We're looking for someone who combines strong technical knowledge with exceptional leadership and communication skills. You enjoy explaining technical concepts clearly, building relationships across departments, and helping others succeed while remaining hands-on when needed.
Required Qualifications 7+ years of experience in custom automation EPLAN and AutoCAD Electrical experience (mandatory) Diploma or degree in Electrical Engineering, Systems Engineering, Mechatronics, or Robotics Experience leading electrical hardware design teams Strong written and verbal communication skills Proven ability to manage multiple projects, priorities, budgets, and deadlines simultaneously Proficiency with Microsoft Office
Preferred Assets Experience with hydraulics, pneumatics, electrical controls, and equipment integration
