Human Resources Generalist

Hybrid | Edmonton, AB | Full-time, Permanent

The Human Resources Generalist supports the effective delivery of human resources programs and services across the organization, acting as a trusted partner to employees and management. This role administers core HR functions including employee relations, recruitment and onboarding, performance management support, policy interpretation, employee records, and compliance with both federal and provincial employment legislation. 

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Administer high volume fast paced recruitment and onboarding processes, including posting job advertisements, screening candidates, conducting interviews, preparing offer documentation, and facilitating new employee orientations.
  • Support employee relations by addressing workplace concerns, best practices, policies, and procedures.
  • Ensure HR practices comply with employment standards, human rights, occupational health and safety, privacy requirements, and other applicable legislation.
  • Assist with building performance management activities, including SMART goal setting, performance reviews, coaching, and supporting managers through performance-related conversations in this newly developed HR Department.
  • Maintain accurate and confidential employee records, ensuring data integrity and compliance with privacy regulations and internal records management standards.
  • Interpret and communicate HR policies and procedures to staff, supporting consistent and fair application across the organization.
  • Contribute to the development and delivery of training and professional development initiatives that foster continuous improvement.
  • Prepare HR reports and metrics, providing insights to management on workforce trends, turnover, recruitment activity, and other key indicators.
  • Utilize ADP Workforce Now to support HR administration, reporting, employee changes, and accurate maintenance of HR information.
  • Assist with health and safety communications, training materials, and related documentation as required.
  • Support return-to-work program administration, including maintaining documentation and liaising with relevant stakeholders.

QUALIFICATIONS

  • Diploma, certificate, or degree in Human Resources, Business Administration, or a related field preferred.
  • Minimum of five years’ progressive human resources experience, with demonstrated knowledge of employment law, health and safety regulations, and HR best practices in a Canadian context.
  • Proven experience managing high volume full-cycle recruitment, onboarding, and employee relations for diverse workforces.
  • Experience preparing, analyzing, and presenting HR metrics and reports to support business decision-making.
  • Strong familiarity with ADP Workforce Now, HRIS administration, records management, and confidentiality protocols in compliance with privacy legislation.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport, provide sound guidance, and resolve conflicts effectively.
  • Strong organizational and time management abilities, with the capacity to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment.
  • Advanced problem-solving and analytical skills, supporting sound decision-making and process improvements.
  • High attention to detail and accuracy in maintaining confidential records, preparing reports, and managing sensitive information.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office, collaboration platforms, and the ability to adapt to new HR technologies and systems.
  • Demonstrates initiative and performs effectively both independently and collaboratively within a team environment.

WORKING CONDITIONS & SCHEDULE

  • Hybrid work arrangement, splitting time between a professional office setting and remote home-based workspace.
  • Regular use of computers, office equipment, collaboration platforms, and HR systems to manage sensitive employee information and administrative tasks.
  • Occasional extended hours may be required to meet deadlines or support urgent business needs, particularly during peak recruitment or reporting periods.
  • Frequent participation in virtual meetings, requiring reliable internet connectivity and proficiency with collaboration tools.

We have facility locations in Edmonton, Airdrie (Calgary), Medicine Hat, Lethbridge, Kelowna, Kamloops, Delta (Vancouver), Williams Lake, Quesnel and presence in Penticton, Vernon, and Seattle. We are experts in operating away from base, with experience in multi-month missions throughout North America.
