Group Division:

For more than 45 years, Arrow Off Road Guelph division has been a supplier of choice for OEM customers in the Material Handling, Rail, Construction, Forestry, Agriculture, Mining, and Defense industries. With operations in both Canada and China, our focus is on safety, quality, delivery, cost, and the environment. Our mission of good parts on time, along with strong customer relationships and company performance, will continue our history of growth.

Compensation Range: $70,000 up to $88,000 annually

Primary Responsibilities:

  • Maintenance activities ensuring compliance with governmental regulations and corporate policies.
  • Providing guidance to the company regarding activities and projects necessary to maintain regulatory compliance, attain environmental and safety goals, with responsibility for consulting with leadership teams concerning projects and initiatives.
  • Reporting conditions to supervision that may adversely impact the safety of employees, contractors, or the environment, to ensure prompt resolution of potential hazards.
  • Participating in pollution prevention/waste reduction initiatives, working on cross-functional projects.
  • Lead /instruct HSE training courses per the site training schedule to ensure compliance and improve HSE customer service, employee engagement, and continuous improvement efforts in HSE operations.
  • Facilitating incident reviews and assisting in risk assessment and implementation of risk mitigation.
  • Must actively work as part of the plant to ensure the best HSE practices and standards exist.
  • Coordinate and conduct specialized Health, Safety, and Environmental audits and inspections of premises and operations in conjunction with others to monitor performance and assist the relevant plant management to produce action plans to implement the necessary improvements.
  • Maintain relevant records, produce reports, review statistics, and complete reports for submission to various government agencies.
  • Supports the accident investigation process and claims management at each of the site locations they are responsible for.
  • Actively participates with all return-to-work claim management cases, WSIB appeals, WSIB hearings, and trials at their designated sites.
  • Filing workplace injury claims with the WSIB, WSIB appeals, WSIB hearings, and WSIAT Tribunals relevant to their designated sites.
  • Ability to analyze data to demonstrate compliance with regulatory requirements and internal needs.
  • Demonstrated knowledge in ensuring compliance with all regulations for air, water, wastewater, and hazardous waste.
  • Develop and drive a sustainable safety strategy & culture
  • Identifies applicable EHS regulations and evaluates the impact on the plant
  • Participates in developing corrective measures related to HSE.
  • Develops procedures to assure continuing compliance with regulations and organization standards.
  • Develops management systems for EHS functions.
  • Providing support and guidance to leadership and employees on HR / HSE policies and procedures
  • Communicates changes to employees and leadership members related to HSE, supporting HR as required.
  • Provides direction to leadership in the interpretation and application of employee-related policies, HSE policies, practices, and procedures, as well as applicable laws, governmental regulations, and internal investigations to enhance consistency and maintain and improve the work environment of the facility
  • Performs other duties as necessary in support of departmental goals.
  • Comply with requirements as outlined in the company handbook and OSHA.
  • Follow and comply with all Operational Procedures and policies as outlined in the Employee Handbook, Quality and Environment programs

Educational Requirements:

  • College/university degree and/or experience of 6-8+ of practical human resource experience with 2 to 4 years of EHS experience

Required Skills & Expertise:

  • Experience and knowledge in OSHA Health and safety regulatory programs, such as elevated work, lockout/tagout (LOTO), machine guarding, industrial hygiene monitoring, confined space, risk assessment, etc.
  • Experience in WSIB claims management, including: filing, RTW process, disputes, appeals, and tribunals
  • Experience working with different Fabrication products, processes, or systems
  • Strong ability to lead, motivate, engage, and influence others.
  • Must be detail-oriented with strong organizational skills and ability to work in a team environment within a complex reporting matrix.
  • Experience with Lean Manufacturing and 5S concepts is preferred.
  • Capable of managing multiple challenging assignments concurrently, moving swiftly and decisively, but collaboratively and effectively with others.
  • Personal commitment to high-quality standards. Strong communication skills and an ability to formulate positive interpersonal relationships.
