Job Description Do you want to help design and implement the next generation of cloud computing? Do you want to create networking products that enable customers to better use the Akamai Connected Cloud? Join our Cloud Networking Products team! As part of Akamai's Cloud Compute team, we enable customers to connect their on-premise or cloud infrastructure to the Akamai Connected Cloud, by improving the platform's IP addressing and building products to integrate better into data centers and other public clouds. This role offers a unique opportunity to write production-quality software in the networking domain.

As a Principal Software Engineer, you will be responsible for:
- Helping build out cloud platform functionality that sets up, manages, and protects networking in the ACC
- Designing, implementing, reviewing, documenting, and testing high quality code in close collaboration with your team
- Working closely with peers, and coordinating with global teams to build new features or resolve software bugs
Do What You Love To be successful in this role you will:
- Have a minimum of 10 years of commercial software development experience
- Have experience with L2 and L3 networking layer protocols, and software defined networking.
- Understand networking protocols such as: TCP/IP, IPv6, BGP.
- Have experience with AWS, Azure, or GCP networking (VPC, ExpressRoute, Direct Connect, Transit Gateway)
- Understand cloud networking features including: Virtual Private Clouds, Firewalls, Load Balancers, Cloud NATs.
- Have familiarity with containers, Kubernetes, serverless computing, and Linux APIs.
- Have solid skills in writing, testing and understanding complex computer software.
- Be experienced in technical design, product specifications reviews, projects and backlog planning.
