Role Overview As a Finance Analyst at Paw Prosper, you’ll play a central role in supporting the accuracy, integrity, and strategic use of financial data across the business. Reporting directly to the Controller, you’ll support core accounting operations, streamline financial systems, and partner with internal teams to ensure best-in-class execution and compliance. You’ll be key to helping us scale financial infrastructure as we grow.

Key Responsibilities Accounting Operations & Controls

• Manage day-to-day bookkeeping, including transaction coding, internal controls, and payroll support.
• Monitor and reconcile bank accounts, Shopify activity, and internal transfer requests.
• Maintain compliance with tax reporting requirements (e.g., Sales and Use tax, HST) and contractor payments.
• Own the Accounting inbox—triaging questions, verifying approvals, and ensuring clear audit trails.

Audit & Compliance

• Support year-end audit preparation, acting as the liaison between internal resources and external auditors.
• Conduct internal spot audits (e.g., credit card receipts, approvals, transaction reviews) to surface discrepancies.
• Draft and iterate internal policies to fit evolving operational needs and compliance expectations.

Financial Planning & Analysis

• Contribute to the development of monthly, quarterly, and annual financial statements.
• Analyze variances between budgeted and actual results to inform decision-making.
• Support annual budgeting and rolling forecasts with clear documentation and insight.
• Create and monitor financial KPIs and dashboards to drive visibility and accountability.

Cash Flow & Payment Execution

• Prepare payment batches (wires, EFTs, bank files) for Controller approval.
• Support cash flow monitoring and forecasting routines.
• Ensure timely processing of payables and receivables.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, or a related field.
• 3+ years of finance and bookkeeping experience
• Experience with tools like Quickbooks (or similar ERP), Google Workspace, and Payworks (or equivalent HCM).
• Proven ability to execute with precision, communicate clearly, and drive continuous improvement.
