We have an exciting opportunity for a full-time position of Heath and Safety Advisor to join our team. Reporting to the Manager of Human Resources and Safety Services, this position plays a key role in building and supporting a strong culture of workplace health, safety, and wellness across the organization. The Advisor will work collaboratively with all departments including seven fire departments to provide guidance, training and practical solutions that ensure compliance with WorkSafeBC regulations and best practices. This role requires a proactive, and independent professional who can collaborate with leaders, employees, and committees to identify risks, implement safe work procedures, and promote continuous improvement in health and safety practices.
The ideal candidate will possess:

Post-secondary education in Occupational Health and Safety (degree or diploma).

Minimum of three (3) years of related experience in administering or coordinating organizational health and safety programs, preferably in a public sector and/or unionized environment.

In-depth knowledge of WorkSafeBC regulations, the Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) legislation,
-
the Workers Compensation Act, the Human Rights Code, and other related legislation.

Demonstrated experience leading incident investigations, conducting root cause analyses, and implementing corrective actions.

Ability to collect, analyze, and interpret data to prepare reports, recommendations, and metrics related to health and safety programs; experience working with safety management and payroll systems is an asset.

Experience supporting managers, supervisors, employees, and Joint Health and Safety Committees in the development and implementation of health and safety initiatives.

Skilled in conducting workplace inspections, hazard assessments, and occupational hygiene testing.

Valid Class 5 BC Driver's License and willingness to travel to various District work locations.

Successful completion of a criminal record check.
