The Co-Op Financial Analyst (Financial Planning & Analysis) supports centralized financial and business reporting, the creation and analysis of operational performance management tools, financial consolidation, and the delivery of proactive guidance and insights to improve financial performance and mitigate risk.
This role supports the Senior Living Division and closely monitors the business performance of the ROC Retirement Residences division across various Canadian portfolios. The incumbent supports Analysts and FP&A Managers with the preparation of operating budgets and participates in business partner initiatives, including conducting comparative analyses aimed at optimizing revenues and improving cost management.
The successful candidate must be proactive and driven to deliver value-added analysis to internal and external stakeholders. They must be well organized and demonstrate a proven ability to multitask, analyze multiple files simultaneously with consistent quality of interpretation and presentation, and meet deadlines.
Key Responsibilities
- Provide proactive guidance and support to Operations and FP&A teams on customer analysis by leveraging internal and external data (including pricing, occupancy, food cost reports, labour productivity, etc.).
- Provide centralized guidance and support to Operations and FP&A teams on expense management, including variance reporting and year-to-go course-correction recommendations.
- Develop, maintain, and distribute division-wide and residence-specific reports on a regular basis (e.g., regional reports, occupancy reports, etc.).
- Create, monitor, and update financial models and business cases by extracting data from multiple internal and external sources, and present results in a value-added format to calculate current and projected five-year performance.
- Participate proactively in maintaining and developing standards, tools, and best practices in support of delivering operational business plans, including P&L and Capex.
- Participate in the preparation and review of annual budgets and quarterly forecasts for the residence portfolio.
- Monitor asset performance, occupancy levels, rental rates, and NOI operating results versus budget and business plan, and follow up on major variances.
- Develop, maintain, and distribute analytical reports to support senior management decision-making.
- Uphold and promote the organization’s values and philosophy, particularly relating to ethics, morality, and integrity, as set out in Cogir’s Code of Conduct.

Required Education, Credentials, and Experience
- Pursuit of a university degree; Business or Finance preferred.
- Interest in pursuing a CPA and/or MBA in the future.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Excel to support modeling and analysis.
- Knowledge of Workday and/or Yardi software (an asset).
- Strong interpersonal skills and demonstrated ability to collaborate with internal and external stakeholders.
- Ability to apply logic and reasoning to analyze complex financial problems and provide solutions or recommendations.
- Highly proactive, motivated, and results-driven.
- Team player with the ability to interface effectively across all levels of the organization.
Hourly wage: $23.00-$25.00
