Do you have recent and relevant experience in a Canadian Hospital Laboratory? Do you enjoy challenging and rewarding work? We currently have an opportunity for a Medical Lab Technologist 1, Microbiology located in Yellowknife, NT. You will provide laboratory medicine expertise for the Microbiology section of the Stanton Territorial Hospital Laboratory.
Key Responsibilities

Prepare information about general microbiology and the intricacies of infectious diseases, arranging for the collection of specimens and performing investigative, scientific analysis.

Examines a variety of biological and environmental samples using standard microbiology procedure to ensure that medical and non-medical professionals have the test results necessary to diagnose, treat and manage disease and address public health issues.

Supply in-hospital and territorial referral services to several medical laboratories throughout the Northwest Territories and the Kitikmeot Region of Nunavut.
Key Qualifications and Skills

A recognized Medical Laboratory Technology Program at minimum of a diploma or degree level from an accredited Canadian Post-Secondary Institution.

Internationally trained Medical Laboratory Technologists must have at least 3 years of working experience in a Canadian Hospital Microbiology Laboratory.
-New graduates waiting to write their certification examination will be considered however; registration must be achieved prior to beginning employment with Laboratory Services.

Must be eligible for registration with the Canadian Society of Medical Laboratory Science.

Knowledge of and an ability to input and retrieve information from Laboratory Information Systems (LIS) is an asset.
