Job Description

WHAT IS THE OPPORTUNITY?

The Director, Software Development Creditor & Business Markets, will lead a high-performing team of software engineers and developers to deliver innovative, scalable, and secure software solutions that align with RBC Insurance Technology’s strategic objectives to support the RBC Insurance Creditor and Group business platform. This role is critical in driving technological excellence, fostering a culture of innovation, and ensuring the delivery of high-quality software products that meet business and client needs.

WHAT WILL YOU DO?

  • Strategic Leadership: Develop and execute the software development strategy for the Creditor and Group insurance technical platforms, ensuring alignment with RBC’s overall technology vision and Insurance business goals.
  • Team Management: Lead, mentor, and inspire a diverse team of software developers, architects, and engineers, fostering a collaborative and inclusive environment.
  • Product Delivery: Oversee the end-to-end delivery of software projects, ensuring they meet quality, timeline, and budget requirements.
  • Innovation: Drive innovation by exploring emerging technologies, methodologies, and tools to enhance software development processes and outcomes.
  • Stakeholder Collaboration: Partner with cross-functional teams, including product management, design, and business units, to deliver solutions that address client needs and market demands.
  • Risk Management: Ensure software solutions adhere to RBC’s security, compliance, and risk management standards.
  • Performance Metrics: Establish and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) to measure team productivity, software quality, and project success.
  • Talent Development: Recruit, retain, and develop top talent, fostering a culture of continuous learning and professional growth.

WHAT DO YOU NEED TO SUCCEED?

Must have:

Qualifications:

  • Education: Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
  • Experience: 10+ years of experience in software development, with 5+ years in a leadership role managing large-scale software projects.
  • Technical Expertise: Deep understanding of modern software development practices, including Agile, DevOps, and cloud technologies.
  • Leadership Skills: Proven ability to lead and inspire teams, drive change, and deliver results in a fast-paced environment.
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to articulate complex technical concepts to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with a track record of resolving complex technical challenges.
