As a Business Analyst you will be responsible for supporting the implementation of technical, business process improvement, and strategic projects and initiatives. You will work closely and collaboratively with a variety of groups, engineering, technical, and operational teams to ensure quality project delivery. Primary duties include:
- Define, document, and validate business requirements using business analysis best practices. This includes the elicitation and prioritization of business requirements with partners and subject matter experts in both technical and operational settings.
- Process mapping of as-is business and technical processes, technical support models and systems.
- Contribute to and coordinate solution design using a variety of techniques such as the facilitation of workshops, needs analysis, gap analysis, to-be processing map, use case creation, and mock-ups.
- Complete pre-project assessments and options analysis that outline project impacts, risks, and recommendations and the development of subsequent business cases.
- Coordinate and participate in system testing. This included the development of test cases with system and user acceptance criteria, coordination of resources and progress reporting.
- Collaborate with the project team and partners and use critical thinking to ensure projects are being delivered to meet business requirements and partner needs.
- Monitor project progress and work closely with the project team and partners to identify risks and issues and provide mitigation strategies that enable project success.
- Provide subject matter knowledge in Public Safety systems including Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD), Internet Protocol (IP) Telephony, radio communications, network infrastructure, broadband technology, workforce management, records management, service management, disaster recovery and business continuity management.
Qualifications
- A completed 2-year technical diploma in Computer Science, Engineering, Public Safety, Commerce, Business Administration or a related field, supplemented by formal business analysis training, and at least 8 years of business analysis experience, ideally in public safety, OR;
- A degree in Computer Science, Engineering, Public Safety, Commerce, Business Administration or a related discipline, and at least 4 years of related business analysis experience, ideally in public safety.
- Applicants with Certified Business Analysis Professional (CBAP) certification; experience in emergency services, telecom, organizational change management (OCM) and/or with IT Infrastructure Library (ITIL) Foundation certification will be given preference.
- Proven ability to deliver project work on time while effectively managing resources and collaborating with partners at all levels of the business.
- Success in this position requires the ability to adapt in a fast-paced, emergency services environment. Required skills include strong leadership, strategic thinking, communication, negotiation and problem-solving.
