Within the Energy department, as a P&C Engineer
Your responsibilities
- Perform detailed engineering packages (EWDs, CWDs, EA Layouts, BOM, Cable lists, NMS lists, Relay Settings,etc.) for protection, control, metering and telecom (PCM&T) systems for Power System Transmission and Distribution (T&D) projects;
- Perform quality assurance (QA) checks on engineering packages done by others;
- Approve, stamp, and sign the associated PC&T designs.
- Provide support for the preparation of estimates and proposals for the PCM&T component of bids prepared by the High Voltage Department;
- Perform the associated PCM&T studies and prepare related reports (protection coordination studies, short circuit calculations, relay settings, CT saturation checks, AC/DC load studies, etc.);
- Make recommendations for the purchase of major equipment and fixed assets for the discipline;
- Maintain courteous and professional relations between the PCM&T staff and other business units;
- Provide effective customer support and problem resolution with respect to the associated project, product, process, and quality system;
- Implement the necessary corrective actions to resolve the non-conformities occurring in the PCM&T discipline and provide feedback on the implementation and efficiency of the solutions.
Your profile
- Completion of a Bachelor of Science Degree in Electrical Engineering (BSc in Electrical Engineering) plus five or more years of experience in T&D protection, control, SCADA and telecom design;
- A professional engineering (P.Eng) designation within the Province of Ontario is a must;
- Possess experience and skills in the areas of T&D protection and control detailed designs (schematics, wiring diagrams, layout, bills of materials, and cable lists), settings and logic diagrams, maintenance and troubleshooting, team-building, training, report preparation, communications, decision-making, planning and organization;
- Project management experience and skills in the areas of planning and scheduling, resource management, estimating, progress reporting, and negotiations with clients and vendors would be an asset.
