Under the direction of the Operations Manager, the Scheduler is the operational control tower for the manufacturing business. This role serves as the central coordination point between Sales, Operations, Engineering, Service, Purchasing, and Production to ensure customer commitments, factory capacity, material availability, and execution priorities remain aligned.

This position is responsible for leading the factory scheduling function, driving S&OP execution, escalating operational risks, and maintaining visibility to constraints that impact delivery, productivity, and customer satisfaction. The role requires strong technical aptitude, operational leadership, and the ability to make high-impact decisions in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.

This is a leadership role managing the scheduling and capacity planning support member(s) while acting as a strong operational voice for the factory. Essential Duties and Responsibilities

  • Own the master production schedule and overall factory scheduling strategy.
  • Balance demand, capacity, labour, material availability, and operational constraints.
  • Coordinate scheduling priorities across multiple departments and product lines.
  • Drive schedule adherence and proactive recovery planning when disruptions occur.
  • Act as the primary escalation point for delivery risk, production conflicts, and priority alignment.
  • Maintain clear visibility of backlog, bottlenecks, shortages, and capacity limitations.
  • S&OP Leadership.
  • Ensure decisions from S&OP meetings are translated into executable factory plans.
  • Facilitate alignment between Sales forecasts, Operations capability, Engineering changes, Service requirements, and supply chain readiness.
  • Present operational risks, trade-offs, and recovery plans to leadership.
  • Drive accountability across departments for commitments and actions.
  • Manage direct scheduling/planning resource(s) with potential future oversight of administrative support staff.
  • Coach team members on prioritization, accountability, and operational decision-making.
  • Foster urgency, discipline, and structured communication within the planning function.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives related to all aspects of scheduling and planning:
  • Understand and adhere to quality policies and processes as needed.
  • Adhere to safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries and report any safety concerns or incidents immediately.

Skills, Education, and/or Experience

  • Technical diploma or degree in Manufacturing Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain Management, Industrial Engineering and/or Business with strong manufacturing experience.
  • 3-5+ years of experience in manufacturing planning, scheduling, operations, or supply chain leadership.
  • Strong understanding of manufacturing operations, production flow, and ERP/MRP systems.
  • Ability to operate effectively under pressure and make rapid operational decisions.
  • Experience in a make-to-order or engineered product manufacturing environment.
  • APICS/CPIM certification an asset.
  • Lean Manufacturing or Continuous Improvement experience.
  • Analytical, attention to detail, and decision-making skills required.
  • Organizational and time management skills required.
  • Familiarity with Health and Safety guidelines.

Job Conditions

Physical Demands:

  • Light physical effort – able to lift up to 20 lbs.
  • Sitting, lifting, squatting, pushing, pulling, or reaching for intermittent or extended periods.
  • Prolonged periods of sitting at a desk and looking at a computer.

Work Environment:

  • Factory, Warehouse, Distribution Center, Office.
  • May be exposed to loud, repetitive sounds from machinery or equipment.
  • May use chemicals or other in accordance with MSDS.
  • May operate machinery in close proximity or with objects exposed to eyes or face.
