Tourmaline Oil Corp. is a Canadian senior crude oil and natural gas exploration and production company.
We are focused on long-term growth through an active exploration, development, production and
acquisition program in the Western Canadian Sedimentary Basin.
We are seeking a highly motivated Water Strategist to join our Calgary-based team. This role supports
Tourmaline’s growth by developing and executing water management strategies across Alberta and
British Columbia. The successful candidate will collaborate with multidisciplinary teams to ensure
efficient, safe, and compliant water operations that align with corporate and regulatory standards.
Reporting to the Team Lead- Water Operations the successful candidate will be responsible for or assist
with the following duties but not be limited to:
Key Responsibilities:
- Plan and manage water sourcing, transportation, storage, and usage for drilling and
completions programs.
- Forecast water demand and develop area-based water management strategies.
- Support in the planning, design & construction of water infrastructure, including both fresh
and saline storage reservoirs.
- Ensure compliance with AER and BCER regulations; prepare documentation and reports as
required.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams (drilling, completions, facilities, HSER, construction)
to ensure water requirements are aligned company goals.
- Identify technologies and implement sustainable practices to reduce freshwater use.
- Support field execution including vendor evaluation, policy implementation and cost tracking
to ensure safe, timely, and cost-effective project delivery.
- Mentor junior engineers and technical staff, promoting teamwork and professional growth.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with regulators, service providers, and partner
companies.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Engineering (Civil, Environmental, or a related discipline) preferred;
however, equivalent work experience and other relevant qualifications will also be
considered.5+ years of experience in water management or related oil and gas operations.
- Strong understanding of AER and BCER water regulations.
- Proven project management and communication skills.
- Commitment to safety, environmental stewardship, and continuous improvement.
