We’re hiring a Production Supervisor to join our Operations team at Cameco’s Cobourg facility. In this role, you’ll lead and support daily manufacturing activities to ensure safe, efficient, and high‑quality production. As a member of the team, you’ll collaborate closely with Quality Assurance, Quality Verification, Maintenance, Process, Engineering, Janitorial, and Logistics, while supporting other site groups to help achieve Cameco Fuel Manufacturing’s objectives.

Position and Responsibilities

Located at our Cobourg facility, this position involves the following responsibilities:

  • Oversight of employees to ensure work is performed safely, efficiently and in compliance with procedures and training while maintaining proper and complete documentation.
  • Conventional safety management activities such as incident investigation and corrective actions as well as the advancement of our safety culture.
  • Completion of Job Task Observations and safety oversight activities.
  • Stake Holder involvement to ensure production adheres to CFM’s expectations regarding Safety, Environment, Product Quality, and Production Unit Cost.
  • Analyse situations on the shop floor and make the necessary changes to personnel or engage the appropriate support groups to address issues in a timely manner.
  • Provide leadership and direction to shop floor employees and salaried support staff to ensure a respectful workplace and enhance employee engagement.
  • Improve performance of the organization through employee coaching and skills development.
  • Seek out and implement continuous improvement initiatives to improve quality, throughput, efficiencies, on-time deliveries and cost reductions.
  • Encourage and facilitate employee participation in site activities and improvement efforts.
  • Participate and support implementation of new Capital Projects.

Position Details:

  • Directly supervise production employees and other shop floor employees as required

  • Manage a group working a three-shift rotation

  • This job is currently a straight day job opportunity however, shift work may be required in support of business requirements.

Education and Qualifications

Requirements of the position:

  • Leadership experience in manufacturing (5+ years)
  • Demonstrated competence in lean manufacturing methodologies and continuous improvement systems (e.g., Six Sigma, TQM, Lean Manufacturing)
  • Proven leadership, communication (written and verbal), problem solving and relationship building skills

Assets:

  • Post-secondary education (college or university); Engineering, Science, Business or Materials Management.

  • Knowledge and experience using investigation tools (5-why, cause-mapping etc.)

  • Awareness of quality systems such as CSA, N285, N299

  • Knowledge and experience working in an ISO 14000 system

  • Knowledge of Microsoft Office
