The Opportunity The Truck Parking Supervisor is responsible for overseeing all operations related to the parking, movement, and safety of trucks on the facility yard /parking area. This role ensures that truck parking is managed efficiently, safely, and in compliance with applicable regulations. The Supervisor leads staff, schedules parking, monitors yard safety, interacts with drivers, and ensures that the yard operates smoothly under all conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise daily truck parking operations: assign parking spots, direct arrivals/departures, manage space utilization.
  • Monitor yard traffic flow to avoid congestion, delays, or unsafe conditions.
  • Preparing invoices, collecting payments and maintain record
  • Ensure compliance with all relevant health, safety, and environmental regulations (e.g. Ontario safety laws, municipal by‑laws).
  • Conduct regular inspections of the yard to identify hazards (e.g. poor lighting, damaged surfaces, snow/ice), and ensure maintenance issues are reported and addressed.
  • Oversee and coordinate staff working in the yard
  • Maintain accurate records: truck arrival/departure times, incident reports, inventory of parking bays/spaces, maintenance requests.
  • Coordinate with dispatch, logistics, and transportation teams to manage truck flow and scheduling, minimize wait times.
  • Enforce rules for driver conduct, parking policies, and facility rules. Provide instructions or warnings as needed.
  • Manage emergencies or incidents in the yard (accidents, vehicle damage, spills, etc.), following established protocols.
  • Ensure facilities (lighting, signage, pavement markings) are maintained and visible; coordinate with maintenance teams/contractors as required.
  • Implement and monitor security measures: gate access, surveillance, lost keys or theft concern
  • Develop and maintain relationships with truck drivers and clients.
  • Analyze parking data to identify trends and areas for improvement.
  • Resolve conflicts and issues related to parking operations promptly.
  • Prepare and present reports on parking operations and performance metrics.

Experience/Qualifications

  • Proven experience in supervising parking operations or similar logistics role.
  • Strong understanding of safety protocols and compliance standards in parking facilities.
  • Excellent communication skills for effective team coordination and client interaction.
  • Ability to analyze and interpret parking data to drive operational improvements.
  • Demonstrated ability to resolve conflicts and operational issues efficiently.
  • Proficiency in using forecasting tools to predict parking space utilization.
  • Capability to prepare and present detailed reports on parking performance.
  • Valid Ontario driver’s license; familiarity with trucks and possibly Class A/Z licence depending on responsibilities.
  • Physical ability to walk large yards, inspect equipment, sometimes work outdoors in variable weather

Working Conditions

  • May require shift work, early mornings/late evenings, weekends, especially if operations run long or around the clock.
  • Exposure to outdoor weather: heat, cold, rain, snow.
  • Yard environment: noise, diesel/vehicle fumes, possible hazards (moving vehicles, uneven surfaces).
  • Use of personal protective equipment (PPE) required (e.g., safety shoes, high‑visibility clothing).

Performance Metrics / KPIs

  • Minimization of trucks waiting time in yard.
  • Efficient utilization of parking capacity.
  • Number of safety incidents / near misses in yard.
  • Compliance with maintenance standards for yard infrastructure (lighting, signage, surfaces).
  • Driver satisfaction or complaints related to parking or yard operations.

Other Desirable

  • Experience with yard‐management software or systems (booking systems, GIS mapping of parking, etc.).
  • Familiarity with municipal by‑laws related to truck size/weight, noise, hours of operation.
  • First aid / emergency response training
