This role requires a unique balance of people leadership, technical mastery of the Scrum framework, and organizational coaching to ensure both the competency of the team members and the effectiveness of the Agile adoption.

##1. Core Accountabilities

  • People Leadership (Chapter Lead): Line management, professional development, and mentoring of all Scrum Masters within the organization (the Chapter).
  • Agile Practice (Chapter Lead): Defining, standardizing, and advancing the "how" (processes, tools, and best practices) of the Scrum Master craft across all teams.
  • Organizational Coaching (Agile Coach): Coaching executives, product leadership, and teams on advanced Agile principles, scaling, and continuous improvement.
  • Scrum Mastery: Serving as a highly experienced Scrum Master for one or more complex teams or critical organizational initiatives.

##2. Key Responsibilities

A. Talent Development & Management (The Chapter Lead Function)

  • Recruitment & Retention: Define the necessary skills for a successful Scrum Master, participate in recruiting, and manage performance reviews, compensation, and career pathing for all Chapter members.
  • Mentorship & Coaching: Conduct regular 1:1 sessions to mentor Scrum Masters on complex situations (e.g., resolving cross-team dependencies, managing difficult stakeholders, coaching a resistant Product Owner).
  • Capability Building: Identify gaps in the Scrum Master craft across the organization (e.g., facilitation skills, metrics collection) and organize or deliver targeted training and workshops to close those gaps.
  • Community of Practice: Lead the Scrum Master Chapter meetings to facilitate knowledge sharing, promote consistency, and drive continuous improvement in the shared way of working.

B. Process & Governance (The Scrum Master Expert Function)

  • Standardization: Establish and maintain the organization’s standards for the Scrum framework, including how events are run, how impediments are escalated, and the definition of common terms (e.g., Definition of Done).
  • Impediment Removal: Address and resolve systemic impediments that exist outside of a single team's control (e.g., organizational funding models, cross-departmental bureaucracy).
  • Metrics & Reporting: Define and coach Scrum Masters on effective metrics (e.g., cycle time, lead time, team happiness, velocity) to drive data-informed continuous improvement and transparent reporting to leadership.

C. Organizational Agility (The Agile Coach Function)

  • Scale Agility: Coach multiple teams, Programs, or Tribes on advanced Agile and scaling frameworks (e.g., LeSS, SAFe, Spotify model) to optimize flow and collaboration.
  • Leadership Coaching: Coach senior leadership on Agile mindset, roles, and their responsibilities in supporting the shift (e.g., how to run effective governance boards, how to fund value streams).
  • Culture Change: Act as an agent of change, challenging existing processes and cultural norms to foster a culture of transparency, psychological safety, and rapid feedback.

##3. Required Skills & Experience:

##MUST Haves:

Experience:

  • Industry: . 10+ years working in the Financial Industry as an IT professional with strong understanding of the capital markets business
  • Scrum Master : 5+ years as a Scrum Master, with a proven track record of resolving impediments and improving team flow.
  • Deep Agile Expertise: Expert-level knowledge of Scrum, Kanban, and general Lean principles.
  • Coaching : 2+ years experience professional coaching, mentoring & training others on Agile Mindset, Principles and frameworks.
  • Stakeholder management : Excellent communication, collaborative, analytical and problem solving skills.
  • Conflict Resolution: Exceptional ability to facilitate dialogue and resolve conflicts between different teams, departments, or senior stakeholders.

Technical Skills:

  • Tooling : 5+ years expert-level use and knowledge of Jira and Confluence.
  • Foundations : Strong grasp of SDLC, SQL, and API/Integration concepts to bridge the business-technology divide.

Certifications:

  1. Certified Scrum Master (or equivalent)

  2. SAFe Agilist or equivalent

Agile Principles You Live By

  • Think as a customer: You can coach teams during iteration reviews to demonstrate the solution through the eyes of a specific Persona rather than showing code or database tables.
  • Stimulate Collaboration : You create environments where everyone contributes value.

Travel required between offices(Toronto-Montreal) up to 10% of the time.

##Nice to have/ Preferred**:**

  • Financial markets certification(like IFC, CSC or equivalent)
  • Experience with AI tools for accelerating productivity or efficiency(eg. Atlassian ROVO)
  • IIBA-AAC (Agile Analysis Certification)
  • Agile Coach certification (e.g., ICP-ACC)
  • Management: Experience with line management, performance reviews, and career development.

Salary Range: 130,000/year -150,000/year CAD
