Position Description
We are seeking Registered Nurses to join unit 8B (Blood and Marrow Transplant and Cellular Therapy Program) to provide family-centered nursing care to children along the continuum of care. The position starts on January 12, 2026.
In this role, you will assess complex nursing needs and provide well-rounded care to support children and families as they experience acute and chronic illnesses. What is 8B?
8B is a 17-bed inpatient unit. It is the only Pediatric BMT/Cellular Therapy Program servicing all of Ontario as well as the Atlantic Provinces. We serve a uniquely complex population of patients and families challenged with life-altering acute and chronic illnesses that require focused and highly skilled management along a continuum of health services both in Hospital and in the community.
Here's What You'll Get to Do on 8B
Nurses on 8B will learn and develop a valued skillset foundational to practice in acute care clinical settings:
- Management of organ dysfunction and related comorbidities
- Management of complex intravenous and pharmacological therapies
- Administration of Hematopoietic Stem Cell and Cellular therapy products including but not limited to bone marrow, CORD transplants and CAR T cells and recognition of adverse reactions during infusion
- Administration of Chemotherapy/Biotherapy
- Management of post-transplant immunosuppression and rehabilitation
- Central Venous Access Device care, maintenance and troubleshooting
- Administration of blood products, oxygen therapy, enteral and parenteral nutrition
- Recognition and management of post-transplant complications
- Management of care across the phases of the illness continuum, including palliative and end-of-life care.
- Navigation of complex psychosocial dynamics and care challenges related to life-threatening illness and its treatment.
- Involvement in new and innovative therapies and clinical trials.

Essential Requirements
- Graduate of an approved Baccalaureate Nursing Program
- Active General Class RN License through the College of Nurses of Ontario
- Possess 1+ years of clinical nursing experience in an RN capacity
- Candidates with less than 1 year of clinical RN experience are encouraged to apply to our New Graduate Nurse job opening (**Job ID23067**).
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Demonstrated ability to use your critical thinking, problem-solving and teamwork abilities
- Demonstrated understanding of and commitment to the principles of equity, diversity and inclusivity
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in nursing in haematology/oncology and/or an acute medical setting is preferred but not required.
- Pediatric experience is preferred but not required.

- Supportive Environment our RN Council works to ensure we are providing our nurses with a supportive, collaborative, and innovative work environment.
Position Details:
- You will work at a 1.0 FTE for the first year when building expertise in this field. At one year you will become a member of the Nursing Resource Group (NRG) and your FTE will reduce to a 0.8 FTE.
- In addition to your contracted scheduled FTE (0.8), you will offer additional scheduled availability of 0.2FTE on a casual basis for at least 2 years. After this time, you will return to a 1.0 FTE once your commitment is completed.
- In the NRG role you will be crossed trained on all unit within the division of haematology/oncology, which includes the inpatient haemology/oncology unit (8A) and the out-patient day hospital unit (8D).
