Medicine Hat College’s School of Trades & Technology invites applications for a part-time Instructor position in our Engineering Design and Architectural Technology - EDAT program (former name Built Environment Engineering Technology – BEET), for one of the two following courses in the upcoming Winter Semester 2026.
- CADD 182 Building Design 1 – Building Systems - (AutoCAD experience is required) - Winter 2026, 84 hours – Tue. / Thu. 9:10 am – 12:00 pm
or, alternatively
- BEET 281 Building Design 2 - Winter 2026, 84 hours – Mo. / Wed. 8:10 am – 11:00 am
There may be an opportunity to revise class dates/times to suit the work schedule of the right candidate.
A little about the role:
CADD 182 - This course will introduce students to structural, building envelope, HVAC, plumbing, and electrical systems for residential and/or light commercial buildings. Autodesk Revit and/or Autodesk AutoCAD, and manual techniques are used to create technical drawings and illustrations. Topics will include an introduction to Land Use Bylaws and the Alberta Building Code.
BEET 281 - This is an intermediate course, covering the technology, terminology, building practices and drafting standards for residential building design and construction. Topics include Part 9 of the Alberta Building Code, Municipal Land Use Bylaw, and wood-frame building construction. Students will use Autodesk Revit 3D modeling software to create industry standard drawings for single detached residential permit applications and building construction.

As a successful applicant you'll have:
- A Diploma in a related field of study such as engineering technology, or architectural technology; Undergraduate Degree in Engineering, Architecture or a related field preferred.
- Teaching and Industry experience are assets.
- Equivalent combinations of work experience and post-secondary education may be considered.
- Strong interpersonal and organizational skills.
- A passion and commitment to learners and learning.
