Undergraduate Commerce/Business students will gain valuable experience in various aspects of oil and gas accounting, such as production/revenue, joint venture, capital, regulatory, financial reporting, internal audit, and property tax.
Successful applicants will work in a fast-paced, dynamic and rewarding work environment.
These positions will be based in our Calgary office and are available for a 4-month term starting in May 2026 .
Many of our students are offered full-time positions upon graduation.
We support our Accountants! Ovintiv’s Pre-Approved CPA program provides its CPA candidates with practical work experience required to meet the CPA designation experience requirement. The program includes opportunities to rotate to Internal Audit, External Reporting, Corporate Reporting, Operations Accounting and, Treasury. In addition to reimbursing course expenses, Ovintiv also supports candidates by providing a team of experienced CPA mentors and offers a competitive study leave to write the module exams and the Common Final Examination (CFE).
Required Qualifications
- Must be legally eligible to work in Canada for the duration of the work term.
- Currently in third year of Accounting.
- Preference will be given to students working towards completion of prerequisites for admission into the CPA program after graduation.
- Demonstrated high academic achievement.
In accordance with applicable law, the following represents Ovintiv's reasonable estimate of the hiring compensation range for this role:
Hiring Hourly Range: $22.81-$31.59 CAD
Compensation may vary and will be determined by year in school and placement location.
