About the role
RFNOW Inc. is seeking applications from motivated individuals to join our team as a Fiber Splicing Technician . The successful candidates will be involved in our day-to-day operations including the preparation and installation of fiber internet infrastructure maintaining, repairing, connecting separate fiber runs.
Role & Responsibilities:
- Splice and test fiber optic cables in all inside/outside plant applications – buried and underground; both on newly placed cable and existing cables
- Analyze test results and have the ability to troubleshoot and correct any faults or defects
- Interpret and understand placing and splicing work plans
- This position requires that the individual be motivated and self-disciplined, able to work on their own or closely with other team members to optimize efficiency to ensure that the client’s due date(s) are met
Expertise & Requirements:
- Experience as a Fiber Optic Splicer is an asset, but will train right candidate
- Ability to interpret placing and splicing plans
- Competency in OTDR and other testing protocols an asset
- Must have a valid Driver’s License - will require a driver's abstract
- Ability to travel to various work sites as workload dictates
- Overtime required in applicable situations in order to meet customer delivery commitments; this could include some night and weekend work
- Work in all weather conditions
This role may give you the opportunity to work out of your home community. You will be provided with a company vehicle and will be assigned work at various locations throughout the region as required.
