Business Analyst, Resource Forecasting

Location – Mississauga, ON

The Business Analyst is responsible for supporting the team in the collection, analysis and reporting of consolidated resource forecasts for Candu Energy Inc. The Business Analyst will be the central point of contact for the People Forecasting and Levelling (PFL) initiative and will regularly interface with staff from Project Controls, Project Managers, Resource Managers, Marketing and Business Development staff, and Engineering Tools in the delivery of regular resource forecasts, analysis, and presentations to senior management. Resource forecasts for Candu are centralized in a software application and the reports are generated through Power BI.

Your role within the team:

General duties and responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Review consolidated resource demand and supply data for Candu project, prepare custom reports, and conduct detailed analysis of results*.*
  • Interface with multiple internal groups including Project Controls, Engineering Tools, Functional Managers, Project Managers, Human Resources and Marketing and Business Development to assemble accurate resource forecasts, and conduct analysis and reporting activities.
  • Take a lead role in coordinating Resource Review Meetings with Project Managers and Functional Management teams, identity gaps in resource supply versus demand, and prepare all supporting reports and data analysis*.*
  • Take a lead role in the preparation and presentation of PFL information in union/management Committee Meetings.
  • Perform regular administration and maintenance of data fields in the PFL Application to ensure alignment with company databases and systems*.*
  • Monitor project progress, resolve problems as they arise, and recommend actions and strategies for process improvements for the PFL initiative.
  • Special assignments, development of ad hoc reports and analysis, and other Project Controls and Estimating duties as required.

The ideal candidate:

  • University graduate in Engineering, Commerce, Economics or Computer Systems related field.
  • 1 to 2 years of experience within a high technology industry would be an asset.
  • Strong communication skills required to support and explain the results of analysis and recommendations, and to lead meetings with management teams.
  • Detail oriented, with excellent mathematical and analytical skills, including the ability to analyze large volumes of data and summarize results.
  • Effective problem-solving skills with a results-oriented approach.
  • Excellent report writing and presentation skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to work under pressure to meet deadlines.
  • High Proficiency in Microsoft Excel, Power Point and Word.
  • Working knowledge of Power BI.
  • Knowledge of software application development would be an asset.
