About the role

This position is posted by Jobgether on behalf of a partner company. We are currently looking for a Senior Data Scientist in Canada.

This role offers the opportunity to leverage data to improve learning outcomes and guide strategic decisions in a mission-driven organization. You will partner with product and leadership teams to design testable hypotheses, evaluate the impact of new features, and analyze large datasets to extract actionable insights. The position emphasizes both technical expertise and communication, allowing you to translate complex data findings into clear recommendations for non-technical stakeholders. You will contribute to self-service analytics initiatives, develop statistical models, and support product development with data-driven guidance. This role provides exposure to rich, real-world datasets and high-impact projects that directly influence user experience and educational outcomes. Accountabilities:

·         Collaborate with product teams to define testable hypotheses and theories of action for new features.

·         Design, monitor, and analyze metrics to assess the success of initiatives and interventions.

·         Perform exploratory data analyses to uncover insights into learner and teacher behavior.

·         Apply statistical methods to quantify the impact of programs, features, and educational interventions.

·         Communicate results effectively to non-technical audiences, enabling data-driven decision-making.

·         Contribute to the development and enhancement of self-service analytics tools for product teams.

·         Work closely with engineering to maintain and improve data infrastructure, datasets, and reporting tools.

Requirements

·         Bachelor’s degree in Applied Math, Statistics, Economics, or a related technical field. Advanced degrees are a plus.

·         5+ years of experience in data science or analytics roles.

·         Strong proficiency with SQL and programming in Python or R.

·         Expertise in statistical techniques, including multiple regression, causal inference, A/B testing, and hypothesis testing.

·         Experience with data visualization and storytelling tools (e.g., Looker) to communicate insights effectively.

·         Strong business intuition and judgment with the ability to ask insightful questions and drive impact.

·         Prior experience in education or mission-driven organizations is a plus.

·         Proven ability to collaborate with cross-functional teams and communicate complex ideas to non-technical stakeholders.
