Position Summary
Under the general direction of the Regional Director, Human Resources, this position will partner with department management to support human resource functions. Will be responsible to provide guidance and sound counsel in the areas of training, attendance management, health & safety, disability case management, immigration programs, onboarding, and performance management. As a strategic partner, the Human Resources Business Partner ensures adherence to all policies and procedures, motivates and leads by example and provides learning opportunities while establishing a safe, efficient and welcoming work environment for all team members. Above all else, the Human Resources Business Partner must embrace, be aligned with and help enhance Casino Nova Scotia’s culture and philosophy of providing outstanding entertainment experiences.
Key Accountabilities
- Provides HR leadership & advice to managers, develops and implements HR strategic plans as directed
- Oversees programs including orientation, training, attendance management, health, safety & wellness (disability case management), and rewards and recognition;
- Partners with management to support culture of attendance and performance while focusing on guest service;
- Develops and cultivates strong working relationships with internal & external stakeholders including management, Union, & team members
- Liaises with the Talent Acquisition team and managers to support the full-cycle recruitment; assists with employee on-boarding
- Oversees Occupational Health & Safety and Disability Case Management programs, including administration of WCB claims, accident reporting, and related policy and procedure implementation;
- Oversees and supports immigration programs (Atlantic Immigration Program & Provincial Nominee Program);
- Supports HRIS data entry and data integrity as needed (i.e., Oracle /CONNECT);
- Supports managers with collective agreement interpretation and application;
- Ensures compliance with laws and regulations, including but not limited to occupational health and safety, labour standards, human rights, and other statutory regulations
- Performs other reasonable additional duties as required/assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
- Embraces the Casino Nova Scotia culture and philosophy and has a playful, infectious and “all about the guest" attitude!
- Post-secondary education in HR or suitable combination of education and experience; a minimum of 3 years of experience in Human Resources (transferrable experience considered).
- CPHR or other HR designation an asset.
- Ability to exceed internal and external customer expectations through timely, effective and service oriented communication.
- A proven track-record of supporting managers and operations through sound human resource practices.
- Confident knowledge of Excel, Word and Microsoft Outlook required, previous experience working with an HRIS preferred.
- Kronos experience is an asset.
- Must be organized and efficient in managing a workload with multiple priorities and deadlines.

- Strong interpersonal skills and ability to guide and support fellow team members.
- A confident public speaker – you enjoy the thrill of a great training session!
