About the role
Consider Dryden as the potential home for your future full-time medical practice - new grads are welcome! Dryden Regional Health Centre (DRHC) and Dingwall Medical Clinic are seeking a family (friendly!) physician interested in an OB practice to join our diverse rural healthcare team. Enhanced training in Obstetrical Surgical Skills/C-Sections is considered an asset. Choose your adventure in Dryden - build an exciting mixed practice that includes family medicine (clinic), ED, hospitalist, obstetrics, anesthesia, LTC, surgical assist, and/or administrative roles. Join our team of 3 OB family physicians, including mentorship with a local GP with +OSS who currently provides all C-section coverage for the community.
Compensation
Dryden is an eligible community under the Northern Rural Recruitment and Retention Initiative - physicians that establish a full-time practice in Dryden are eligible for $136,308 over four years! DRHC offers an additional return-of-service signing bonus and up to $15,000 in reimbursement for moving expenses. Practicing in Dryden also makes you eligible for Canada Student Loan forgiveness - up to $60,000 over 5 years. Dingwall Medical Clinic is a Family Health Organization (FHO) capitation model which provides a stable income on an established roster. All local family physicians provide additional services with DRHC (ED, 2nd on-call, hospitalist, anesthesia, OB), allowing for individualized revenue streams and workloads. Average incomes (including clinic and hospital work) range from $450,000 - $800,000/year. Competitive clinic overhead rates hover around 20%. Enjoy an overhead-free grace period as you settle into your clinic practice, and ongoing mentorship from our welcoming mix of young and experienced doctors.
Teaching
Affiliated with the Northern Ontario School of Medicine University (NOSM U) and Univerity of Toronto's Teaching Practice (TP) Rural Family Medicine program, DRHC is a busy teaching facility for medical learners and residents from across the country. Opportunities for both clinical and academic teaching and faculty appointment.
About DRHC
DRHC is on beautiful Treaty #3 territory, providing local healthcare to the community of Dryden, several surrounding rural municipalities, and the First Nation communities of Migisi Sahgaigan (Eagle Lake), Wabigoon Lake Ojibway, and Wabauskang. We are a 42-bed hospital, including a 3-bed CCU, 24/7 Emergency Department, and 2 modern OR theatres with 1 fully integrated MIS suite. We have a regionally-integrated EMR (Meditech, current development towards adopting Meditech Expanse), on-site diagnostic imaging (CT, ultrasound, x-ray), laboratory services, and nearby pathology (Kenora). DRHC is conveniently located on the same grounds as the Dingwall Medical Clinic and Dryden Area Family Health Team, making collaborative care a breeze. DRHC also hosts a Specialty Clinic that brings in visiting specialists year-round, supporting quality healthcare closer to home. This includes Orthopedic Surgery (knee, hip, spine), ENT, Plastics, Obstetrics, Gynecology, Urology, Pediatrics, and Psychiatry.
