The Opportunity:

We are recruiting for a MENTAL HEALTH CLINICIAN (The Grove - Youth Wellness Hubs

  • This is a regular full-time opportunity to fill an existing vacancy (35 hours per week Monday to Friday 12pm to 8pm) based at 737 Woolwich St. Guelph.

Reporting to the Team Lead, The Grove, the successful candidate will be committed to assisting parents, children, and youth to establish healthy relationships. This will include providing comprehensive assessments, clinical services, and consultation to community partners and group support. The successful candidate will provide recovery oriented counseling and support to children, youth, and their families with mental health and/or addiction challenges. The focus will be on children and youth ages 12-26 years of age.

The Grove Hub brings an integrated youth services model to Guelph and Wellington County. Here, youth are at the center of all we do – for youth by youth. Our vision includes service providers working together to enhance the integration of services and build a system to better meet the needs of youth in our community.

An integrated youth service model means a “one stop shop” for all youth between the ages of 12 to 26. At each of our sites, youth can have their wide range of needs met from simply having a safe place to hang out, to training and employment support to formal mental health and primary care support.

Qualifications:

  • Masters level degree in psychology, social work or relevant health or social science field
  • Registration and in good standing with relevant professional college/registering body
  • Three or more years of related experience working with children/youth with mental health/addictions issues
  • Experience working in a Youth Wellness Hub an asset
  • Well-developed assessment, intervention and support skills
  • Ability to work well under pressure in a team environment and also independently
  • Knowledge of a broad range of mental health, addiction supports and resources
  • Knowledge of My Wellness Passport for measured-based care an asset
  • Knowledge and understanding or previous DBT training in individual and group
  • Knowledge and understanding of Adverse Childhood Experiences and Trauma Informed Practices
  • Knowledge and training in Attachment Theory
  • Good organization, communication, interpersonal and problem solving skills
  • Demonstrated sound clinical and practical judgement
  • Demonstrated understanding and sensitivity to social and cultural diversity
  • Understanding of various service systems, community supports and resources within Guelph and Wellington County
  • Ability to work collaboratively in fast-paced and multi-disciplinary setting
  • Demonstrated belief in the values and philosophy of CMHA and Youth Wellness Hubs Ontario
  • Proficiency with MS Office, Outlook and various database software
  • A valid driver’s license and access to a reliable vehicle as travel is required

COMPENSATION AND RATE OF PAY: Level 6 (OPSEU) - $37.09 to $45.21 per hour
