The Town of New Tecumseth is looking for a Municipal Law Enforcement Officer to join our rapidly growing team.

Reporting to the Supervisor, Municipal Law Enforcement, the successful applicant will administer and enforce various municipal by-laws, with emphasis on but not limited to Property Standards, Zoning and Clean Yards. They will conduct patrols; issue Part I and Part II certificates for offence for infractions. Issue notices and orders as required, perform administrative duties; attend and give evidence in court as required. The job involves considerable amount of driving in all weather conditions.
How you contribute to our organization:
- Investigate inquiries regarding specific Town by-laws and regulations ensuring that appropriate action is taken to resolve the matter(s) or to enforce compliance, within Town policy and procedure and applicable legislation. Analyze the situation to determine the appropriate steps to achieve compliance. Respond to the inquirer to ensure appropriate customer service.
- Enforce Municipal Parking By-laws by conducting patrols and utilizing reasonable judgment and discretion to decide whether to issue a parking ticket in regard to violations in accordance with the legislation.
- Respond to municipal law enforcement inquiries from the public in a professional and timely manner, providing information, assistance and direction when possible.
- Work in conjunction with the Municipal Law Enforcement & Licensing coordinator to ensure that appropriate records are maintained, and written follow ups are completed as required.
- Prepare detailed reports as requested by the Supervisor, Manager or the Director of Administration on various matters related to town duties, services provided by the department.
- Prepare detailed court briefs and collects evidence for use in court; assists the Town Solicitor and the Municipal Law Enforcement Supervisor with court evidence as required including providing disclosure material. Keep detailed notes and attend court as required.
What you bring to the team:
- Successful completion of or willingness to successfully complete a Municipal Law Enforcement training course(s), or diploma in Police Foundations or Law and Security.
- Must have Municipal Law Enforcement Officer Certifications MLEO-C and Certified Property Standards Officer CPSO or be eligible for same.
- Requires valid Class G license in good standing, and ability to submit a clean driver’s abstract upon hire.
- Ability to submit a clean Vulnerable Sector Check.
- Current Standard First Aid with CPR-C.
- 3-4 years’ experience in a municipal law enforcement position.
- Basic level Microsoft Office applications: familiarity with Parking Ticket software programs would be an asset.
Salary: $68,664.86 - $85,835.85, plus employer paid benefits and OMERS pension plan
Hours: 35 hours per week(can include day, afternoon and weekend shift rotations)
Location: Town Hall, 24 Tupper Street West, Alliston
Start Date: April 27, 2026
