Job Description We're looking for a Senior Tax Analyst (1-Year Contract) to join our team! This role offers the opportunity to ensure compliance with federal and provincial commodity tax regulations, while partnering with stakeholders across Canada, USA, and the UK on global tax initiatives. You'll play a crucial part in maintaining the income tax payment process, preparing tax filings, supporting tax audits and ad hoc projects/recoveries. Additionally, you'll develop strategic tax initiatives and provide guidance to internal teams, making a significant impact on our business.

What You’ll Do

  • Prepares monthly commodity tax (GST, HST, PST, QST) returns, general ledger reconciliations and other monthly processes.
  • Supports the development and maintenance of processes to ensure commodity taxes are accurately self-assessed on purchases and charged appropriately by the Point of Sale (POS) system.
  • Supports commodity tax audits, tax recovery initiatives, and develops recommendations.
  • Identified changes in federal and provincial legislative tax laws or business processes, determines the impact, makes recommendations or updates to ensure changes are accurately implemented; monitors and provides regular updates on Sarbanes-Oxley (SOX) requirements.
  • Acts as internal Subject Matter Expert (SME) for other department’s commodity tax related inquiries; assists on special projects or committees as needed.

About You

  • A minimum of three (3) years professional experience in Canadian commodity (sales) taxation; a strong understanding of Canadian commodity tax laws.
  • The Chartered Public Accountant (CPA) designation or In-depth taxation education; designations actively in progress (CFE completed) are accepted.
  • Excellent knowledge of and ability to apply Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP).
  • Strong analytical and critical thinking skills; solution oriented, effectively estimates implications of decisions, leverages prior experience, and adapts quickly to the changing work environment.
  • Good interpersonal skills. Provides advice, feedback, and guidance to associates in the resolution of problems; acts as collaborative partner and positively influences others to act in best interests of the organization.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills; demonstrated ability to influence business partners, build and maintain collaborative, cross-functional relationships.
  • Strong technical aptitude including excellent spreadsheet management skills (Microsoft Excel), ERP General Ledger packages; experience with Oracle, Power Bi or other data analytics software is an asset.
  • The drive to take initiative and enthusiasm for continuous learning.

Salary Range: $74,752.50-$104,653.50 /year *This represents the expected hiring range and may not represent the full pay range for the position. The salary offered may be higher than the posted range depending on several factors such as relevant skills, qualifications, and experience.
