About the role

The primary purpose of this role is to write, edit, and project manage end-user documentation for NETGEAR hardware products and software applications. The ideal candidate possesses excellent written and verbal communication skills, has experience with DITA XML, and is a superb analytical thinker who can simplify complex topics for a non-technical audience.

This is a full-time hybrid position based in NETGEAR's Richmond, British Columbia office.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Create task-oriented documentation for new products in a fast-paced business environment.
  • Update existing hardware and software documentation.
  • Collaborate with internal design teams to create product illustrations for documentation deliverables that meet NETGEAR branding requirements, quality standards, and the overall project schedule.
  • Track documentation deliverables as part of an overall product development schedule.
  • Participate in peer editing of documentation deliverables.
  • Work closely with project engineers and product managers to clarify and resolve issues.
  • Work cross-functionally with local and remote teams, including software and hardware engineers, product management, QA, tech support, localization, and marketing.
  • Distill and communicate technical information to audiences with a wide range of technical knowledge.
  • Follow departmental and company policies to create and release documentation.
  • Manage multiple projects and readily adapt to changing priorities.

Required Qualifications:

  • 3+ years of experience in a technical writing, information development, or other documentation-focused role.

  • Bachelor’s Degree.

  • Curiosity and willingness to learn new concepts and technologies.

  • Proven excellence in writing end-user documentation in clear, concise English.

  • Experience with topic-based, task-oriented technical writing.

  • Mastery of English grammar and punctuation.

  • Ability to comply with style guidelines.

  • Ability to work both independently and collaboratively, and to direct the work of others.

  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.

  • Experience writing documentation in DITA XML.

  • Experience with DITA authoring tools, preferably Heretto or other CCMS.

  • Proficiency with JIRA and Confluence.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Knowledge of networking technologies.

  • Knowledge of cellular device technologies.

  • Proficiency with Adobe InDesign.

  • Experience with print document design and production.

  • Experience with Adobe Illustrator, Acrobat Professional.
